Hi Elisa,\015\012\015\012\015\012I was having the same problem with my MAC. I have a G5 tower. After much searching, here's what I found:\015\012
\015\012If you open up Image Capture and have this open when your camera is connected. You will be able to download everything, including AVI files. Once you've downloaded the file, open up iMovie. Import the file into iMovie. Do what you need to do and then you can export it as a Quicktime movie.\015\012
IMovie is designed to work with Digital Video cameras which use the industry-standard DV format. Consequently, iMovie is optimized to work with DV movies, and everything that is imported into iMovie is converted into DV.

\015\012\015\012\015\012avi-to-imovie.jpg AVI files are one of the most used formats for PC users and the problem is always being the inability to directly import .avi to iMovie on Mac, which is a big trouble if you have an important project to accomplish within a tight given time. Video converter for Mac is an ideal program that can import .avi file to iMovie with little hassle. Accurately speaking, video converter for Mac is able to convert .avi to iMovie readable formats like DV, Mpeg-4, Mpeg-2, M4V, and no other codecs will be needed at all.

We have released several versions of the program, the latest one is 3.3.8. We encourage you to free download the program to have a full evaluation on its performance and welcome you to contact our online customer service.

Step 2. Load AVI video files
The program supports batch mode which means you can load as many as video files at one time. Hit Add File…to select the videos stored on your computer, then click ok to commit.

Step 3. Trim the video
On the top of the panel, you will notice there are Trim, Effect and Crop tabs, each has their own specific function. I’d like to take Trim tab for example.
Click Trim tab will open a window to edit the video. Drag the first slider to a location to set the starting time and drag the second slider to set the ending time. Click ok to commit.

Step 4. Convert video
Hit Convert to convert the entire list of video files to iMovie understandable.

Profile: on the bottom of the panel, you are supposed to select output format in the drop down list next to Profile field

Destination: on the bottom of the panel, you are supposed to instruct the program where the output video to store by choosing from the drop down list next to Destination field.

Step 5 Import video to iMovie
First start iMoive, then choose File>Import, next, choose the converted videos you want to import from your project library, finally click Open to import.
