Having problems with your Canon PowerShot SD550 / IXUS 750 Digital Camera ?

I dropped my Powershot SD 500 and now the lens cover does not cover the lens. It leaves a gap when closed and does not retract all the way when open. It seems that the resolution on some of my photos is not as good as it was pre-drop. Any suggestions to fix?

Answers :

A bit of gentile persuasion may be necessary.
Have you tried to push the lens into the camera body?
I believe that the camera has lost track of where the lens is in it's range of travel.

use your finger and see if a small amount of pressure will put the lens back ito position.

In the end, this is not a new camera, if it is dead a better replacement can be had for as little as 120 $US

Hello. I bought my Powershot SX1 IS in April 2010, and have never felt I could get good photos with it. The 'noise' seems bad, when I playback and zoom in just one notch, definately worse, the more I zoom. The color is often poor, and the focus on close-ups is not sharp. Would you say this is the best this camera can do, or would you say there is something wrong with this particular one. (I always have it set at highest resolution , often 100 ISO, try the set of three exposures to get diffe

Canon A560 camera problem - the images are overexposed. I checked the exposure setting, AWB, and all other settings and they are all normal. There is an exposure setting where I can set to + or - 2, but setting it to -2 does not help much. Outdoor photos are almost completely white. There is some detail in black objects. Indoor photos are overexposed. Flash pictures seem OK. The picture on the display is OK. I compared some macro photos taken a few weeks ago with macro photos now. The good photo

Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 Resolution: 10,100,000 pixels I am selling my camper van on the web. I have taken photos of it with the above camera. However, I have been unable to upload the image files to certain websites due to the large file size. Typically the pictures seem to be 5Mb in size but, on one website there was a limit for file size of 500kb. One site suggested choosing a lower resolution on the camera (e.g. 1024x768). I've looked through the camera operating manual but, nowhere d

Camera takes photos without actually "focusing" on the object. Seems their is no "prefocus" with the button. As soon as you touch the focus button, the camera automatically takes the photo. When the camera was working correctly, you'd push the focus button half way down and then it would do it's job. Now it just takes the shot if you barely even touch the button. Not good...........

FinePix 2300 I am wondering how good the Macro is on this model. My father-in-law received the 2300 for Fathers Day and he wants to be able to take close up photos of jewelry and rocks with good resolution. The jewelry is any where from Penny size to necklace size and the rocks range in size, but the small ones is what I am concerned about. Any suggestions what model might be better for this type of work if the 2300 will not work would be much appreciated.

External Flash I set my Epson 3100z camera to manual mode and set up the camera for external flash. I manually set the shutter speed to 1/60 sec and the aperture to F4. I also set my SunPak flash to F4. My exposures seem pretty good. However when I review the various photo info's, the aperture reading is F5 or F4.8 not the F4 I set. Why is this? Anyone experienced this? The shutter speed are also not always what I set on the camera.

I have a rebel xt 350D , using 75-300mm 5.6f lens to do some girls basketball photography inside a gym. Had camera set on: ISO 1600, M mode, 5.6f, 200 shutter speed (that seem to set automatically), used built in flash, Exposure level was in the middle of the chart, auto focus, al servo, continuous shooting, used awb. Got pretty good freeze action shots, with little or no blurring but the photos were dark. Some I could make lighter with photoshop but lost some detail and the contrast was too muc

My Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ2 camera has a blurred display within 25 seconds of being turned on when in any mode other than playback. When the display blurs, it quite quickly becomes unviewable, and if I try to take a photo, an error message saying WRITE ERROR PLEASE CHECK THE CARD shows on the screen. The card seems fine and pictures I took before today all look good, both on the display and in a computer. Is there any fix, or do I need a new camera?

We have Nikon Cool Pix 8800 - we have struggled with the camera from day 1 having a long delay between pushing shutter buttom and photo being taken. It seems recently that the problem has gotten so bad that anything other than a still picture is a frustrating moment. We believe we are shooting on automatic. If there isn't a setting that is wrong we are clearly on our way to selling the camera but we don't even feel good about that the way it currently works. Thanks Lynn

When turned on lense would only retract partially and then turn off. took it apart. I have it to where the camera will now go on, am able to take a photo (all normal) except I cannot get the lense to "attach" to the camera properly. Cylindrical lense. three screws protruding from it. not sure if the lense mounts on a black ring on the front or under the ring. The "in out" mechanism works but it will not grab the lense (cover?) to move out then retract. Seems to need to attach under the ring but

I received a Canon PowerShot A1100 IS as a Christmas present in 2009/10. Right from the start, it seemed to use batteries like they were going out of style. So, I bought good quality batteries and removed them between photo-taking sessions. Recently, while on a 2-week vacation, I went through 20 AA batteries (Energizer and Duracel)! Any advice or suggestions to rectify this inconvenient and highly wasteful problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Leta
