Having problems with your Canon PowerShot SD780 IS / IXUS 100 IS Digital Camera ?

I have a Canon SD780IS camera and now notice dark spots on the pictures. I tried cleaning the front of the lens with a Q-tip but they did not go away or move around. I have 2 such cameras . One with 6-8 spots and my new one with one spot. Is there a sensor that one can clean. Does anyone else have this problem

\012Yes, eventually everyone who owns this camera will see these dust orbs in every photo they take once the problem appears, and the problem continues to worsen until you will see no image at all. I've had my SD780IS for about 2 years. I was very proud of what this camera could do until the dust appeared and discovered there seems to be no do-it-yourself solution. Canon will "fix" this under warranty.\012
\012When Canon returns your camera, it will no longer take sharp photos, but the dust orbs will be gone..... for a little while.\012Soon, we will all tire of sending these crappy, expensive little cameras back and forth to Canon. All of us will eventually\012toss this expensive junk and find another expensive Canon to use for about one year before we toss that one too.\012
\012The spots appear due to the complex external lens assembly\012which by its very function (moving in and out) invites particulate invasion. Canon deliberately allows us no recourse for practical maintenance outside of never using the camera. Why didn't I consider this before I purchased? Well, I trusted a corporation whose mission I thought was to provide durable high quality\012product. The plastic disposable film cameras of yore were an honest version of what we have purchased here.\012
\012You may notice a tiny hole on the ring surrounding the lens.\012My guess is the Canon techs insert a $.25 tool here which with\012some certain push and twist of the fingers will pop the lens assembly, exposing the CCD and rear lens element for cleaning.\012Effective reassembly may be another matter altogether as proven by the less sharp images I experienced upon return of the SD780IS from Canon. I have yet to locate any good solution addressing this difficulty. However, my wife still likes this camera despite her 20/950 vision. Some people are very easy to please. When she notices the spots, I'll look into getting her another camera.\012
You need to have it serviced. Spots in the images are usually sand or dirt got behind the lens. Have it serviced and you're camera will work perfectly again. There are many good shops out there. The one that just does the Powershots and is great for help with these is www.camerasandparts.com They're not much at all for having a Powershot serviced and their work is wonderful. I would not say to take it apart yourself, best to just have it properly serviced and enjoy your camera again :)

We have a Fuji S5000 digital camera we really like. However, lately it takes shots that are more like artwork with colors running down the page. I looked it up and it appears to be the image sensor. Where can I get a replacement sensor or the camera fixed What should I expect it to cost as we are debating whether to find a used one or just buy a new camera.

Fuji s9000 problem, it won't turn on with the ac supply at all. The last time I used my camera I put in some rechargeable batteries (new ones) while the camera had the ac adapter connected, I was just seeing if the new batteries had charge on them or not. All of a sudden our nikon coolpix P2 digital camera is stating lens error when we turn it on. the opening/closing mechanism will work and open but then after the photo lens thing comes out, it looks around and goes back inside the camera. I've tried to dust it a little with a soft brush, and jiggle it some but to no avail. I'm afraid repairing it will cost more than a new one. This one is 4 years old. Help!

My wife has a Canon 60D DSLR camera. When she looks through the view finder, it looks like the lens has a speck of dust on it as she can see it in the viewfinder. She has swapped lenses and the spec is still there. She used the auto clean function for the sensor, but the spec hasn't moved, This is almost a brand new camera. Should we clean the sensor by hand? If so, how do you do it?

Memory Card I just got my new Canon Power Shot G9. The user guide pictures a different memory card then what came with the camera. The guide shows a memory card that has ribbing and a write protection tab. The memory card that came with the camera does not. It is smooth all around except for one squared off corner. My problem is I cannot figure out, since the guide diagram and the actual card do not match, how the card is inserted into the camera? Please help! Thanks, Liz

I bought a Canon 40D from Amazon--through Ace Digital Photo--in a kit with a 17-85mm lens, presumably new. I replaced it recently with the 50D. Now I learn that the camera, which was never outside my home and has about 100 activations was used--quite a lot of use and significant dust on the sensor. I was cheated, obviously. I can see the dust myself and a camera shop told me the camera was used extensively. Well, I am pretty disappointed. The purchase date was around 08/01/2008 and I still

I'm a new user of the D90 (and digital in general), and on my first major trip with it I had problem with the shutter not working.
