Having problems with your Canon PowerShot SX100 IS Digital Camera ?

Can not open battery cover sx100is lock hasp does not move

Answers :

Ok i have looked at the manual, so hold the camera in your hand upside down to where your thumb will be pulling the hasp towards you. while doing this with one hand cup the other and smack the camera down into your other hand this should make the batteries move just enough to get the hasp to release. I have had this happen on several models of cameras over the years. Sometimes this works, other times not.

The way I look at it, the camera is useless the way it is, nothing beats a failure but a try. I think the spring tension below the batteries is causing this. I don't like the design of cameras with a hasp locking mechanism on the bottom of the door like this. My daughter has a nikon coolpix that did this exact same thing, I had to fight with it for about 10 minutes to get it open!
