Apologies for \015\012the extreme delay in answering, I've just been specifically searching \015\012for old unanswered questions. I realise that the information is probably\015\012 far too late for you, but it may help others searching the site for \015\012answers to the same problem.
\015\012
\015\012Your camera has a lens error,\015\012 this\015\012 is such a common fault that I hope you don't mind me pasting my stock \015\012generic answer below. No point in reinventing the wheel!

Stuck lenses are probably the most common \015\012reason that compact digital cameras get thrown away, but there's a fair \015\012chance of recovering use of your camera again

The fault is \015\012commonly caused by dirt or grit blocking the mechanism, or due to it \015\012having suffered a recent fall. Another common cause is that the camera \015\012was in a pocket or bag and the power button accidentally activated and \015\012tried to open the lens against resistance. The mechanism may have simply\015\012 become \015\012dislodged or there may be parts which have broken.

If your camera\015\012 is still under warranty and has definitely not been subject to misuse \015\012then contact the Canon service department in your country to find out about a free repair. If \015\012the warranty has expired though a professional repair will far exceed \015\012the\015\012 cost of replacing your camera. You will therefore have nothing to lose \015\012by \015\012trying to fix this yourself.

Please click here\015\012 and you will be taken to an excellent article provided by the Camera \015\012Repair website. For the most part, you'll be guided on how to physically\015\012 manipulate your camera to try and clear the fault. Although the article\015\012 mentions Canon a few times, the advice applies equally to all cameras \015\012with lens errors and is not model-specific.
