Hi, \015\012Even I have the Problem. The flash does not work at all. When I try to take pictures with Flash the camera hangs. Any solutions for this issue.\015\012
I know this is an old thread but I hope it helps others having the same issue....
\015\012My flash on my PowerShot SX10IS also unexpectedly stop working. I looked in the manual and also online and no one seemed to have an answer. The only indication that my flash wasn't working was the blinking flash symbol on the LCD when I pressed the shutter. Well I knew my rechargeable batteries were on their way out. They charged and my camera worked (all but the flash) but it didn't take long before the camera was telling me that my batteries needed to be charged/charged. Since I knew the blinking flash indicates the flash is charging I thought, maybe these old batteries are causing the flash to unsuccessfuly charge anymore. So hoping for the best, I swapped the old batteries for some new batteries and voila my flash IS WORKING NOW. I'm just glad i didn't have to send my camera out for repair.
\015\012Good luck and hope this helps others....

I have a Canon EOS 40D camera. We are having problems with using an external flash. The pictures always come out extremely dark with the external flash. My Canon SD950 IS camera will take about 30 seconds to take a flash picture. You have to hold down the shutter button for a long time. The flash indicator flashes on the display for quite a while and then the picture is finally taken. This seems to have happened after the battery was run down to nothing. After that, this flash problem appeared. I have got another battery but this still happens. I have reset to default settings as well . Still has problem. What is wrong?

Canon sd900 I seldom use my canon sd900 and I usually take pictures without using the flash. But I recently noticed that my hands should be very very steady, just a slight movement will cause the picture to be blurry or unclear. I usually don?t use the flash because it gives a darker background with your face too white from the flash. And my problem arises when I would request other people to take my picture because 90% don?t have a steady hand thus giving me a blurry picture.

Try a higher ISO speed (suggest 400). Look in your camera's instruction book to find out how to do this. ... Digital Cameras

Flash Problem Rebel XT flash icon shows next to "busy" in the view finder when I press the shutter button. If I attempt to take the photo the flash does not work. If I continue to hold the shutter half way down, then release it I get Err 99. I am using genuine Canon lens' and have tried all three. I also connected my 420EX external flash and it also does not flash. Any suggestions are deeply appreciated. Thanks

Flash Pictures I have a Canon XTi and am using a 580EX flash with it. The problem is, I have to set the flash at plus 1 1/2 to 2 stops to get a decent exposure. Is there something that I am doing wrong?

All canons tend to underexpose to avoid blowing the highlights. I still think this is a poor design / calibration of the light meter. A search of the net will reveal some folks who sent their xti's in to canon to be fixed and got them back better. Ca ... Canon Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera

After I have detached my external flash (Nissin Digital Speedlite Di622), my Canon EOS 60D does not recognize the fact that the external flash is already detached. Thus, this does not allow the built-in flash to pop out when needed. I have tried turning the power off and on again. The problem persists.

Flash will not pop up. Camera was returned to Canon but not repaired because warranty had expired. Problem was diagnosed as software, not mechanical-estimate $300.00. Flash did pop up once and operate properly but refuses to do so again. Is there a way to manually deploy it? The rest of the camera works fine.

This also happened to my camera and I am able to pop the flash up manually by flicking it up with the edge of my fingernail. It helps to simultaneously press down on the piece just above the microphone (I think) which is just above the viewfinder. Th ... Canon PowerShot S1 IS Digital Camera

I have a one year-old Canon Rebel XTi. Overall, the picture quality is consistent with the 10.2 megapixel capability. But, using the automatic setting, virtually ALL of my pictures are so dark (even with a flash) that they require added contrast and fill-light when reviewing them. I've talked to other owners of the same camera and they DO NOT have the same problem. Do you think there is a correctable problem to address? Also, if I am taking a picture outside or in a lot of light, the image ends up being extremely light. Have any suggestions?
