Hi
Busy means the camera is waiting to transfer files. In iPhoto go to import and you should see the camera as an option to import photos from.

My Advice.
Go out and buy a card reader. These days you can get ones that are "all-in-one", 7-in-1, 12-in-1, etc. What this means is the device will read this many types of card in one device. To make it a little clearer. A 7-in-1 card reader will read 7 different types of camera card. These devices connect via USB and the advantages are:
1. Much quicker and simpler than plugging in the camera.
2. Safer to use and reduces the exposure of the camera to damage by accident by things gettin caught in the cable.
3. Saves on battery usage in the camera and the need to have well charged batteries.
4. Do not need to connect the power cord to the camera when there are multiple cards to empty.
5. Card readers are really cheap these days.

Hope this helps
