Having problems with your Canon Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera ?

My Rebel XT is taking pictures but some of them are making it on to the memory card and some are not. The images show up on the camera but not on the memory card. I have determined that this is not a memory card issue as I am working with two cameras and two memory cards--both of which work fine in my Canon 40D. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Answers :

This is a difficult problem to resolve without servicing the camera. When the picture is taken, the CCD relays the information to the memory card, controlled by the processor. Any kind of oxidation on any contact, such as the SD contacts inside the camera, can affect the process. About the only thing you can try is to clean the SD contacts inside the camera, using an electrical contact cleeaner, in the hopes of restoring it. A qtip or other narrow piece of cleaning substance may have to be employed to get the contacts clean.
\015\012If none of this works, you can contact a local camera repair shop or Canon Support to see what it will take to get the problem fixed.
\015\012Hope it's just the SD contacts, and good luck.

I won a Canon PowerPoint S3 IS at an eBay auction; it was in the working camera listings. It turned out that in the finer detail, the owner said that everything worked except for the "Memory Card Error" found in the display window. I posted this a few days ago. I now have the camera, and I've tried two different memory cards (one came out of another Canon PowerPoint, and it does work) and neither works. Still have the same message;"Memory Card Error." This item was incorrectly listed as working.

Card error I have a e-1. Two memory cards with 1 and 2 gb. I get a "card error" message when I insert either into the camera. I brought it to one camera shop. They said that a couple of the pins (that connect the memory card to the brains of the camera) were bent. Recently took it to another repair shop and he inserted a card with less memory and the camera worked. Is it the cards or the camera? Will the camera work (with bent pins or whatever) if I get a new memory card?

When I recently turned on my camera (D-630 Zoom) to take a picture, I got the message titled Card Setup, with two options "Power off" and "Format". I turned the camera off, took out the memory card (1GB) and put it back in, as I did the last (and only) time this happened, about two years ago. But it has not worked, and I have been getting this message with the two options for a few days. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hi, I purchased a FinePix S2500HD recently and a Class10 32GB Adata SDHC card. The camera works fine with the internal memory when the SDHC card is not inserted. But when I insert the SDHC card, it comes up with "Card Error". When I proceed to format the card, it gives me "Protected Card" error. Is this because of any known incompatibility issues between the two? Any help on this issue will be appreciated. Regards, KK

My 4GB Gigaware SDHC memory card won't work on my camera. It used to work but then I tried it recently then the camera just takes out the lens and freezes. My other memory card works so it has to be the memory card. Can I do anything to fix it? If I can keep the photos in it I would prefer that but if it needs to be erased it is fine. I tried to access and format it on my computer but neither works. I can't access it at all.
