Built in flash dosen't pop up

\015 I receive error message 5 when I depress the shutter. I cannot use the camera unless I attach my EX 430 Flash.\015

Accidental bending of the pins ,at bottom of flash chamber ,can cause also trouble , it seems you have been using a speedlite a lot than the little tab under the shutter release side of the hot shoe can get bent down thus constantly pressing down ( toward the bottom of the camera )the small button which deactivates the pop- up flash even when the speedlite is not attached>Just bend the tab you a little with a jewelers screwdriver ,turn the camera off and on and then it fixed .The tabs needs to be bent up to release the flash deactivation switch try this also dip a Q-tip alcohol and clean the sliding parts of the flash ,this might clean away from gunk made stick.. ..

I have a Canon Digital EOS Rebel XT and the built-in flash no longer pops up when needed. This started happening after using a Canon speedlite, but then removing it. I've tried resetting everything, and tried all modes expecting that the ones listed in the manual as using a flash would work, but they dont, it never pops up. My Flash stop working, do i need to replace it? The built-in flash does not stay up. I can hear the clicking sound when it wants to pop up, but it stays in place.
