Having problems with your Canon Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera ?

My Canon digital rebel will not autofocus correctly. My camera has 7 points autofocus, but it will only autofocus on the far right point. All other points are not used. I have had the camera for 14 months and the problem just began. If I want to focus on anything in the left to center of the field of vision, I cannot do it. However, the lens focuses manually very well. Why won't my camera focus on other points than the far right one?

Answers :

I had this problem awhile ago - you must have accidently adjusted the focal area - it is sooooo easy to do without realising it. Here is what I was told:
**************************

Most likely, you have changed the AF point, which only takes effect in the creative modes (Manual, Av, Tv, P, etc)

There should be a button on your camera that has a grid like pattern above it, like
-
- - - - -
-

or\015\012so. press that, look through the viewfinder, and move the shutter or\015\012rear wheel, you should see the different AF points like up in red, and\015\012as you turn different ones will light up, and eventually all of them.\015\012also, you can look on the screen on top (or back, if its a rebel) and\015\012it will show you which ones are selected while in that mode, instead of\015\012looking through the viewfinder.
It is possible that your focus sensors are dirty. remove the lens to the body and try to clean the mirror, open the mirror and clean the small glass ( around 7 pcs). Clean all the mirrors inside. Also check if there is dent or misaligned mirror.
As an amateur photographer, I always set my focus sensor in the mid section only.

Focus Problem I recently bought Olympus C-750. The real problem i have with it so far is that when I point the camera towrds the subject, its focus is adjusted automatically and the subject looks very focused and clear, but when i press the shutter button, the camera re-focuses and makes the subject blurr and in the end pictures come out very blurry. Kindly help me out with that, i.e: do i need to do some setting to avoid that??? and plus i cannot find the manuual focus option in the camera.

I have the C740, which I believe works very similarly if not identically. Unless you have the camera in full time auto focus, I don't believe it actually focuses on the subject until you've pressed the shutter button half way. Until then, the subject ... Focus malfunction I have been shooting with my D70 for a little over a year now with absolutely no problems. I shot with it last weekend with no problems. However, yesterady when I took my camera out to use it I realized that my autofocus single area option won't let me change from one focus area point to another. It is stuck on the center focus area. Even stranger when I tested the autofocus on the closest subject mode it is capable of locking on each of the five focus points. Does anybody know

I am shooting with a 10mm - 22mm lens - however that should not matter. Frequently my camera cannot find a focal point and therefore i cannot active the shutter release. Nikon Coolpix S50 has screwey autofocus when I shoot close-up. I select my subject, center it within my frame, depress the shapsot button half-way in order to initiate the autofocus function...
