Formatting wiped out all taken photos on camera

I have a DSC H10 camera. Today I put it in a plastic with a water bottle that wasn't close tightly. It got wet and now I've taken out out the battery and the memory card. I let the water drain out, I wiped out the battery chamber. I turned it on a few hours after the damage was done and the screen is not very bright.
