Having problems with your Casio Exilim EX-S500 Digital Camera ?

Lens The lens of my camera doesn't come out when I turn it on. It's out like half a millimeter but doesn't go in or out. I don't know what is causing it. If it's possible I'd prefer not to have to get a new camera.

Zoom Error While taking a picture of my daughter at Disneyland, I accidently dropped my camera, while in picture mode. It must have been about a 3 foot fall. It landed on the extended lense causing it to disalign itself. I attempted to push lens back into it's proper alignment. Now that I turn on the camera, I automatically get a "Zoom Error" fault in the LCD screen. Is it possible for me to fix it or what do you suggest? Thank you for your time and efforts..... Sincerely Alex Z.

Does anyone have instructions for getting at the lens mechanism? I totally understand the risks of doing this myself, but the cost of getting a shop to do this is nearly as much as a new camera! I am sure the problem is caused by sand. The lens at first just went in and out a few time, before the camera turned off. I vacuumed it, then slapped it against the side of my hand whilst turning it on - now it turns on properly with the lens out, but it wont focus - so you can only take blurry photo

Lens error CoolPix L11. I switch on the camera The lens comes out. A picture is shown for about 1 second. Then the message Lens Error is displayed. The lens is retracted. After 15 seconds or so the camera switches itself off. The camera was bought in USA as a gift for a friend in Sri Lanka. Not so easy to get a local repair - if this is at all possible anyway. What is your advice? Thanks James

Dear Sir/Madam, My daughter did get an Olypmus FE-340 digital camera last year but has since a few weeks problems with this camera. On switching on the camera the lens keeps opening and closing. When the lens stops there is no automatic focusing and only by taken out the battery the lens will close itself. Is it possible for you to advise me which action to take? Hi all, I wonder if you can supply some advice regarding a Sigma17-35mm lens I purchased earlier in the year. Basically if I use the automatic or 'P' setting on my Canon EOS 30D camera the image is over exposed by 1 to 2 stops. If I use the same functions with my Canon 18 -55 kit lens the exposure is correct so I would presume the camera is not causing the problem. The only way I can get a correct exposure with the Sigma lens is to compensate manually for each shot. Please note the exposure p

Blurry pictures I have had this camera for a couple years and have taken thousands of pictures with it. I have been very happy until recently most of the pictures are blurry and look like the camera is not focusing properly. I am wondering if it is possible (if not common) for grit to get in the lens mechanism restricting the lens from moving to the fully extended position. I am considering a professional cleaning but don't know the cost/benefit when weighed against just buying a new camera.

Hello, I own a Fugi Finepix F100 camera. Last week my dog was pulling on his leash trying to get to a gaggle of ducks and caused me to drop my camera down into snow. I tried to dry it off and in doing so might have damaged the retractable lens cover. Now it is not reliable in opening all the way, I usually need to help slide it back so that the lens is fully exposed. I really don't want to have an expensive repair unless necessary...what do you advise? Thank you! Linda

Dropped my camera in a pool of water in a glacier 12 months ago. I immediately took out the battery and memory card. I then spent 2 hours with a hair dryer drying the camera. Since then the camera has worked fine. This week end I "lost" the lens. I can review photo's on the screen but I get nothing in camera mode. Is it a lost cause or can it be saved?

There is no relation between the two incidents that you explained. The recent problem might have occurred due to damaging of the lens. I loaned it to my granddaughter. Was assured camera did not get wet. Have blown compressed air in all crevices on the outside to remove possible sand. Camera had stopped with zoom lens out, not retracted. I replaced battery pack. Everything else seems fine with the new battery pack, but the focus.

Hello typrice, at the second paraghrap you said: "Or the battery ran down with the lens extended." as a possible cause. I'm quite sure this is what happend with my camera (is a FE-340 model) so I tryed all the fixes 1 to 4, because I don't think it is a blocking problem of the lens. The simtom is just as discribed (lens go out and in 3 times, then turn off). I still can't fix the problem, there is any way to restart the software?? I find it should be simple to fix but still have no success... PL

I have spots on my pics. My camera is still new. I've been extremely careful to not get anything on the lens. Don't see anything visible on the lens, and have also tried cleaning it (very carefully with special lens cleaner). Still, there are spots -- the same place on every pic. Ok those "Spots" are dead "Pixels" in the CCD Element that take or sees the image. What has happened is that certain "Elements" in the CCD have gone faulty, this means that they do NOT react at all, to the light, hence a "Spot" is displayed. If you ... Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS15 Digital Camera
