Auto focus no longer works. Every time I turn the camera on, I get the ''Please turn camera off and then on again message''. When I do that, it can focus in the default lens position, but as soon as I move the lens, it is not able to focus. Battery is fully charged. All settings were reset to default. Formatted SD, and upgraded to V1.2 software. Still no help.

Hi. I am on vacation in the Indian Ocean islands at this moment with a brand new Nikon D90 + 18-105 lens. Was taking photos this morning. From one shot to another, the camera suddenly stopped working. When I press the shutter button, it still focuses and when I click through, I can hear the shutter clicking (tried this with different shutter speeds). However, no photo is captured/stored. Also, the Lv button no longer works. When I press it, the camera is unable to switch from viewfinder to LCD l

My new Canon G11, purchased in August,2010: 1) The camera cord (to load photos from camera to computer) is no longer interfacing, but the card works (I don't think it is the software as it malunctions on both office PC and home Macpro). Also noticed that sometimes when trying the cord, when I turn camere on, the lens comes out, which never happend when transferring photos via cord 2) I noticed shortly thereafter that the camer no longer "beeps" when the green in-focus boxes appear on hte view
It sounds to me like one or more of the wires in the cord has broken, or there is a problem with the USB port on the computer. Try swapping to the other ports to see if the problem goes away before going forward. If the problem is present ... Canon PowerShot G11 Digital Camera

Camera turns itself off too soon. There must be a setting to change the length of time from when you turn it on until it turns itself off, which is currently about 15 sec. Very annoying when you turn it on the camera comes on and works fine. If you wait more than 15 seconds the camera is off and the only way to get it back on is reach to the on switch and turn it on again. By then your subject is no longer smiling This should be very simple to find in the manual. Apparently the feature is not na

I recently purchased this Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS/1000 from Best Buy and happily used it for about 6 weeks, when suddenly the AF button won't work, and when I try to use manual (since I was very accomplished with 33 mm cameras at one time) I can barely get a decent focus -- it's an almost impossible task. What happened? This camera has not been dropped or misued in any way, and I fear there is no future in taking it back to Best Buy with their rigid return policy of 14 days and no longer. HEL

I have a nikkor 18-200 lens. the outermost ring screws into the lens glass ring with a few very tiny screws. the screws loosened and the cap fell off. nothing is broken (though auto focus no longer works with this off) but there is a solid plastic ring that covers the screw heads and i cannot see a way to access the screw heads to screw them back into the lens. it would be a simple procedure if i could access them. any ideas?

My Nikon D-40x has an auto focus that won't auto focus. Becasue it won't focus, it won't take a picture with the lens set to that mode. One day the camera worked fine. I put it up in the closet for about 5 months while working odd hours. Took it down removed it from the case, charged the battery and it just won't work. It died all on it's own....Replaced the battery, same result.

Trouble focusing I am using my D60 with a 18-55mm lens, i have it set on auto its been working fine until recently when it is unable able to focus when i press on the release button. All that seems to happen is the lens keep going in and out where it is trying to focus. I have removed the lens and checked the contact but its still not working help!!!
Not too many things that can do this are simple, but here are a few you can check. First, make sure you aren't too close for the lens to focus. For the 18-55, that's only about 5" from the front of the lens, so I doubt this is the problem. \ ... Nikon D60 Digital Camera
