Initializing and formatting is the same thing. If your camera have an old firmwareversion, the camra can not use M or H type XD cards. You probably need to update the firmware. You can get the firmware here.

Format error I have a Samsung digimax A40 camera. I 've just purchased a Lexar 4gb SDHC card. When I've tried to format the card for use, the screen comes up initially with "card error", then a screen to format - yes/no. When I press on yes, it takes a few moments and then comes up with Format Error, and turns itself off. Any suggestions on how to overcome this? We are heading away on holiday soon and wanted a bigger sd card as I currently only have a 256mb card in it. Thanks, Tracey.

Hello, I have a Cannon IXUS 95 IS. I accidentally removed some very important photos recently and I was wondering if there is any way to recover them. I am desperate to find a way to do this as they are very unique and sentimental photos.
