Having problems with your Fuji Finepix S5800 Digital Camera ?

Stuck media card

\015 I have a Fuji digital camera. I got a SanDisk ultra II memory card that incorporates a USB that foldsback when inserted into the camera. The first time that I put it in it refused to come out. It releases but "catches" and won't come out. The card still works as I can take and review pictures. It is a 2 gb card and I guess I could live with it like this but it limits the ease of making prints. The local photo repair wants $100 to fix it! Ever heard of this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks so much.\015

Hi, I'm the guy that got the 8gb card stuck and the boot time of the camera went to about 5 seconds, (camera checking memory?) 5 seconds is not a lot to check 8gb of memory, but if you want to take a pic in a hurry it is a lifetime! - here is how I got it out.
\015\012
\015\012Get hold of an RFID tag (security tag), the white strips that set the door alarm off at supermarkets. Luckily I had one on the packet of batteries I bought for my camera!
\015\012
\015\012Cut it open and you will find two strips of really thin metal, you are going to use these as shims.
\015\012
\015\012You need to make a 90 degree fold along the length of the shims about 2mm in from the edge.
\015\012(about the thickness of the card)
\015\012I held my shim in a pair of vernier calipers and ran the back of a knife down it to get my fold.
\015\012The thick part of the shim will go down the face of the card and the thin bit will go down the side.
\015\012
\015\012I made 2 shims, one for the left and one for the right side of the card - I only needed the left to get the card out.
\015\012
\015\012With the camera held with my knees and the lens facing away from my body, I pushed a shim down the face of the card (side nearest the lens) with the 2 mm bit running down the left side of the card where the locking notches are.
\015\012
\015\012Slowly work it all the way down, pop the card up and down if you can - to help move the shim down.
\015\012Once it was down the whole length of the card, I popped the card up again, wiggled it a bit - and it came out! YES!
\015\012
\015\012No more 5 second startup for me, with 2gb card in again - startup time was back to normal!
\015\012
\015\012Good luck if you are try this:-)
