Having problems with your HP Photosmart M417 Digital Camera ?

Camera does not want to switch on even with new batteries. I have not used the camera since March

Answers :

Did you store the camera in March with batteries inside?
\015\012If the answer is yes , then the aging batteries may have caused the contacts where the batteries sit to rust. You should verify this by removing the batteries and shining a torch down the hole where the batteries sit. The contacts should be sparkling silver. if they appear dull or have a brown coating, you should clean them by using a small screwdriver covered with a small piece of cloth . the piece of cloth should have been immersed in a solvent e.g. gasoline(petrol),ethyl alcohol, isopropanol(isopropyl alcohol). Please dont use water as it will only lead to more rusting of the contacts.Clean the contacts until they again sparkle. You may also have to apply scraping action directly with the screw driver on the contacts taking care not to break them. Dont forget to clean the contacts on the batteries also before reinserting them.
\015\012Keep me posted.
\015\012P.S handle solvents carefully. Most of them are inflammable and have a corrosive effect.

I had bought a Polaroid i733 model last march from Walgreen's. I am able to take pics but, as soon as I try to view them it shuts off...i can turn it back on to take more pics. I have used many different batteries and it doesn't help. I contacted Polaroid and since I don't have a receipt or the packaging they can't help me. I was told I could pay them like $70 then I will be able to trade mine in. I don't want to spend anymore $ on their crappy cameras. My sony cybershot lasted me 4 years...sho

Battery drainage I have had my olympus sp-550 uz for approx 18 months, and was getting around 175 shots even when using zoom a lot. I am now getting only 20 - 30 shots using new batteries and also getting total drainage over night at times when my camera is turned off. I have been using the same make and type of batteries since I bought the camera.

20 to 30 shots on "fresh" batteries! Do you use the flash on all shots. That really drains them. I would try to set the camera to "factory default settings" in case you changed something that is causing a drain. I hope you just bought some bad batter ... Olympus SP-550 UZ Digital Camera

I have a Sony MVC-CD1000 Digital Camera and have been using it since 2002. Lately, even thought I am using the recommended Sony CD-R 8mm Disc, I cannot initialize the new disc. I keep getting a Disc Error message. The camera has been in the same location for some time, so condensation should not be an issue. Want can I do?

My camera doesn't turn on at all. I took it out of its cover today and I first thought it was a battery problem so I recharge my battery but it still doesn't turn on at all. I tried to connect it to my computer, hoping that it will do something but still nothing. Strangely enough, the lens is on and I don't want to use force to put it back inside, afraid that it might damage the camera even more.Should I send it for repair? and if yes, where is the best place to do it? thanks in advance

Batteries This camera has been the worst digital camera I have ever used.  The pic quality is fine.  The ease of use is fine.  The problem lies in the battery longevity.  Maybe that is not even the right description.  I will put in new batteries and only use my camera for a short time.  The next time I go to use the camera it is not at all uncommon for it to not turn on.  Even though it has new batteries and was not left on, the batteries are dead.  It happens with the rechargeable as well as re

I last used my camera about a week ago with no problems. Now, I can't even turn it on. I have not even touched it since, so I'm not sure why it will not work. Hi , My Fuji S9600 has just refused to power-up using batteries, although it still powers-up and operates correctly when i attach the mains PSU adapter. I wonder if this is a common occurrence on this model and how easy it is to get sorted.
