I have an old Sony Hi8 Handycam model CCD-TR705E. Have not used it for about 4 years and decided to upload tapes to DVD via a DVD recorder. Worked fine for the first 5 hours of film then suddenly picture not visible (sound is fine) but when in review mode (press play then rewind without pressing stop) can see pictures. Have tried using a new head cleaning tape. Do you think this is very dirty heads or more serious? How can I fix it if head cleaner tape doesn't?

Hi, We bought a Sony DCR HC62 Handycam last month. Twice now while recording a video, horizontal gray bars appear on the display screen breaking the image up. Like looking at the image through venetian blinds. They stay on the screen for a few seconds and then disappear. We bought a head cleaner and ran it through last night and are continuing to use the camera to see if it occurs again. We are using 60 minute Maxell tapes. We have tried Sony tech support which is an absolute joke (they sho

I have a problem with the Panasonic AJ-D200. The tape will not close. The symptom developed after I loaded a head cleaning cassette. I then loaded a normal tape and now it won't close. I then changed this tape drive for a spare drive. Powered up the camera and tried again. I loaded a head cleaning cassette. Then loaded a normal cassette and now this one won't close. The problem seems to be with this head cleaning cassette but I cannot risk using another spare tape deck. I cannot see the

I recently picked up a Canon UC-X1 Hi 8 camcorder my father left me when he died. I have been trying to view tapes in it but it has bad distortion... and interference so makes it very difficult to view. Is this dirty heads or something more serious? It has not been used for approximately 8 - 9 years and left in a cupboard secure in a padded case.

Hi bumbleYes, it may be dirty heads, or a loose maladjusted tape guide, but also(more likely) could be failing surface mount capacitors. Canon camcorders of this vintage were plagued with problems from these failing. Best bet is to have ... Digital Cameras

When recording two vhs tapes back to back on one disk, it will not finalize. But, will finalize if one tape is recorded. Mind you now each tape only has one half an hour recording on them, and the disk is capable one hour of recording time. I'm using dvd-r disks, and have tried everything I could think of, and have used many disks to try and solve this problem.

The disc requires some space for the finalizing process. Two half-hour tapes take up all the room on the disc and leave nothing for the process. You'll need to record at a lower speed. ... Digital Cameras

I have a Panasonic camcorder NV-GS70B which writes to mini DV tapes. I am now finding that on playback of tapes I have recorded it is losing the audio signal on some tapes. Some of these tapes I know originally had an audio signal recorded. Someone has suggested there may be a build up of oxide on the heads which might have been transferred to some of the tapes. I have tried a head cleaning tape (twice) but without effect. I have two concerns: 1) the camera - can it easily be repaired 2)

The VCR orked well the last time I used it a couple of years ago. It has been sitting in the rack for at least two years and was not ever used for more than a couple of weeks since new.
