Having problems with your Kodak EasyShare C330 Digital Camera ?

Lens Error My daughter and I just got back from a trip to St Croix. We stayed at a resort on the beach and also went snorkeling. The camera was exposed to sand and water. While snorkeling we had the camera in a zip-loc bag so I do not believe it got water in it but I know that while on the beach it may have gotten sand on it. Now the lens won't retract and we are getting a "lens error 12". Any suggestions? Thanks

Hard choices here my friend. Sand in the lens system is bad news.
Jams up the close fitting bits. You basically have two choices. Get the camera repaired or throw it away and buy a new one.

Cost of repair will likely exceed the value of the camera. Perhaps not, but it's a gamble. Generally, just to get the extent of the damage evaluated and an estimate on repairs will cost you many dollars.

Alternatively, IF you are very handy, patient, observant, and have the correct tool, you MIGHT be able to dismantle things enough to do the cleaning yourself, but likely not to work. IF you got some salt contamination in the camera, which can be from just spray and related moisture, delicate electronic parts will be corroded and needing replacement.

When I turn on my Nikon Coolpix s210, the screen says lens error and doesn't open up. I don't know why. I have only had it for 3 days. I haven't gone to the beach with it so there is no sand in the lens gears. I keep it in a swissgear camera case to protect it. I dont know if I should try and fix it myself or take it to a store.

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced. If you feel like you can do it yourself, go for it. Otherwise, have a trained professional do it. ... Nikon Digital Cameras
