Battery problem This morning I turned on my brand new Nikon Coolpix 5400 and got nothing on the screen. pushed some buttons and still nothing. Went to turn it off and it won't. The lens stays extended and the power light is still on. I don't know if maybe the batteries are so low they can't do anything, but I was under the impression that the camera had an indicator for the batteries really needing to be recharged. The low battery light was on last night, but I haven't seen need to be recharged

Some of these cameras go from "low" to "no" very quickly. The electronics are more sensitive to available voltage than the mechanicals and it doesn't take full voltage to keep an led lit or to retract the lens. But the cpu shuts down. I would have ex ... Nikon Coolpix 5400 Digital Camera

My PowerShot S3IS drains it's batteries while turned off. I first thought my rechargeables had gotten old, so bought new non-rechargeable batteries, took a few pictures, and the next day the camera indicated it needed new batteries.

As you probably have figured, something internally might be draining the batteries. You can try to ohm out the battery terminals to verify this, but it could be a high-resistive short, and not noticeable. You have three choices, basically- keep t ... Canon PowerShot S3 IS Digital Camera

Fuji s9000 problem, it won't turn on with the ac supply at all. The last time I used my camera I put in some rechargeable batteries (new ones) while the camera had the ac adapter connected, I was just seeing if the new batteries had charge on them or not. Well, after a while I came back to my photo booth and my camera had a white screen (lcd) and so I unplugged it at that time thinking maybe it was charging the batteries or something. Hi! I took several shots yesterday and went to upload the pix on my computer today and when I connected the camera to my computer the battery was at 100%. Then the camera completely shut off. I tried turning it back on with no result. I recharged the battery with the same result. I figured my battery must be dead ( yet only 1 year old) and purchased a new one. My Sigma SD9 rapidly drains battery power; and I don't mean over a short period of time, but over a few minutes. Regardless of new or fresh rechargeable batteries, the drainage is frustratingly consistent. Have had the camera quit responding regardless of 3 sets of AA rechargeables, or non-rechargeables with more than 3/4 capacity left installed within 45 minutes of my last attempt to use this camera at a Botanical garden close to where I live. Canon Powershot A470 - asks to 'change battery' every time it is turned on, then turns off immediately. This is so even when new, fully charged batteries (different brands, rechargeable, non-rechargeable) are inserted. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

At maximum, NimH rechargeable batteries reach 1.2volts, instead of the full 1.5-1.6volts of a standard battery. I recommend using Lithium batteries, vs. std or Alkaline batteries, as the Li batteries seem to hold a charge longer. \015\012 ... Canon PowerShot A470 Digital Camera
