Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Flash will not pop up. Camera was returned to Canon but not repaired because warranty had expired. Problem was diagnosed as software, not mechanical-estimate $300.00. Flash Error Hi there, bought this camera about 6 months ago. I'm intermittently getting a problem with the pop-up flash. It pops up fine, but the screen gives me an error telling me it hasn't and won't take any shots. Have to keep switching it off and on and hoping it will work again. Sometimes it's a couple of days before it works again. It will take shots when I switch the camera to the 'no flash' setting, so it does seem to be just the flash. The error says that the flash release is jamming,
