We have Nikon Cool Pix 8800 - we have struggled with the camera from day 1 having a long delay between pushing shutter buttom and photo being taken. It seems recently that the problem has gotten so bad that anything other than a still picture is a frustrating moment. We believe we are shooting on automatic. If there isn't a setting that is wrong we are clearly on our way to selling the camera but we don't even feel good about that the way it currently works. Thanks Lynn

Everything else works fine-reviewing pictures, settings in menu, focusing, exposure settings etc. The camera focuses ok when the shutter button is half pressed then when you press the shutter button fully, the mirror goes up, shutter appears to open then the camera shuts down with no power. Only way to get mirror etc back to normal is to remove the battery and refit. When camera is turned b

External Flash I set my Epson 3100z camera to manual mode and set up the camera for external flash. I manually set the shutter speed to 1/60 sec and the aperture to F4. I also set my SunPak flash to F4. My exposures seem pretty good. However when I review the various photo info's, the aperture reading is F5 or F4.8 not the F4 I set. Why is this? Anyone experienced this? The shutter speed are also not always what I set on the camera.

You mention everything except the shutter speed. When the aperture shows "Lo" it's saying that there isn't enough light at your selected shutters peed to produce a good exposure. That's why you have dark photos. You may need to bump the ISO up hi ... Nikon D300 Body Only Digital Camera

Hi i am using a Nikon N75 to take pictures for my photo class, and the instructor wants us to take low light indoor phtotos at a shutter speed of 1/30 at f2.2. However, when i go to set these settings in manual mode the camera will not let me set my aperture to 2.2 it usually stops at 4 and there is no way i can make it 2.2. i didn't know if there is a limitation on the camera but it seems like i should be able to select what i want.

It's probably a limitation of your lens. You didn't say what lens you're using, but one of the common kit lenses sold with the N75 only goes to f/3.3 at best. If you had a lens that opens up more, the camera will let you use it.The differ ... Nikon Digital Cameras

I have a Fuji S1000FP and for the most part it takes great photos EXCEPT when I take pictures into the sun then my photos are either white or black and no image. I will admit I just want a point and shoot camera because I don't understand shutter speed and such. However, I have attempted to change the shutter speeds and still nothing. I have tried all the pre settings as well. (This camera claims to be one of the better outdoor cameras. ) Can anyone offer words of wisdom on this. Ruth

I have just bought a Lumix FZ18 camera (July 08). The button that contros the zoom and shutter snapped off my camera. It appears that the tips of the three tabs sheared off. The small spring that brings the zoom button back to center is still attached to the camera. Canon Powershot A610 digital camera--LCD screen shows icons, but otherwise is blank--there is no visible movement in the lens when I take a picture without flash--have tried setting it on TV setting and taking a picture, then opening the battery cover for a few seconds after waiting 7 seconds or so, but no images on the LCD except the camera's icons--ideas? probably a stuck shutter, or is it still possibly the CCD sensor even though there's no visible movement in the lens? Ideas? Thanks!

Much more likely that it's a stuck shutter, especially for your model camera. How many tries did you give the fix? Some people stated that it took at least 15 repeated tries before the shutter opened:\015\012\015\012\015\012 ... Canon PowerShot A610 Digital Camera

Overexposed photos?? when i hit my shutter release button, sometimes the flash doesn't pop up and the view finder goes black. Many picture moments are missed because of this!

The view finder "going black" on an SLR is caused by the mirror being up, which is also when the camera is actually taking the picture! The mirror sends the light from the lens to either the viewfinder or the sensor. When it's down, the light goes ... Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens
