The retinar lens is extender but won't retract-I

\015 The retinar lens is extended but won't retract automatically-I can hear a sound like it is trying to do so, but alas it just sits there...what to do...the camera is about a year old and hardly used.\015

Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the\015\012battery contacts inside the camera\015\012which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the\015\012camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the\015\012batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with\015\012a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush,\015\012steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen\015\012into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of\015\012the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears\015\012the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, chances\015\012are that your batteries need to be replaced because they're just too\015\012worn to properly power the camera.\015\012And then, of course, there's the possibility that your camera may have\015\012a problem that requires professional repair.
