Having problems with your Kodak EasyShare M1033 Digital Camera ?

My Kodak M1033 isn't registering that it's plugged into my computer. Maybe the USB port is broken?

\015 I have had problems since I bought this thing. If I would have known that this was going to be the WORST camera ever, I wouldn't have even looked twice. But the problem is either in the USB cord or the USB port on the camera. I'm not sure which. It just won't register that it's plugged in so I can import the pictures. Any solutions?\015

Answers :

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.

I have a Canon HF M30 we bought in Dec 2010 and my husband attempted to plug in the cable into the USB port of the camera and discovered it would not 'connect' to the computer. In other words it wasn't recognizing it (we've used it many times before w/no issue) so he unplugged from camera and looked inside USB port on Camera and there was a plastic piece that was broken and just hanging in there. We sent to Canon since it was still under 1 yr warranty and they want to charge us $282 to repair it
