Having problems with your Kodak EasyShare M883 Digital Camera ?

When my digital camera turns on, it zooms in, zooms out, gets blurry then clears up, the lens contracts and then it turns off. I experienced this after a trip to the mountains where it was not dropped in the snow and was only exposed to temperatures of about 45 degrees. I had my camera for only three months when this occurred and it was not subjected to any particular abuse or misuse. Seven months has now passed and I am wondering if you can offer me any advise. \015\012This is sounding like a manufacturers defect of two possible causes, the first being a wiring issue resulting in shortages in which the camera will turn itself off as a failsafe. The other potential issue is there is some short or breakage between the battery pack prongs and the internal converter of power. Either way the camera needs to go back to the manufacturer for repair. \015\012
\015\012I would do this in a very prompt manner as well seeing as you're already at 10 months (based on information provided) of ownership and your manufacturer warranty will expire in 2 months time. Another issue to check is to see if the lens comes out at a bit of angle, this will mean that the lens is falling off the track it extends out on. The camera will then shut itself down to prevent any further damage as well.\015\012

Only about 9 months after buying my camera, It wouldn't turn on. I'll plug it in and the light will come on that it's charging, but when I got to turn it on, it turns on for a split second (and the zoom lense comes out) and then it turns itself right back off (and the zoom lense goes in). I thought that it needed a new battery so I bought one and it's still doing the same thing. I emailed Kodak and they said that I should just send it into them for a $60 repair fee...lame. Any suggestions?

If its only been 9 months since you bought it shouldn't it be covered for repair? espically if its a manufactures fault, which it sounds like. ... Kodak EasyShare M863 Digital Camera

'Zoom Error' Hi, I recently bought a Fuji FinePix s3000 Digital Camera. It took amazing pictures the first month or so, but recently I turned the camera on to find 'Zoom Error' across the LCD screen. I am unable to take pictures, and the lens wont Retract. I was hoping there would be a simple solution to this problem rather than a costly repair, seeing as how it was a very nice camera. Any Idea how to fix it?

My Panasonic DMC-TZ5 will no longer focus, especially after using zoom. It displays messages re shutting camera off and on, takes 30 seconds to turn off and sounds like a ticking clock! It is only 3 months old. This is easily the worst digital camera I have ever bought and the Internet shows many people have the same problem with this camera. it should be withdrawn!!

If you mention "ticking clock" sounds, then most probably something like a grain of sand fell into the cogs in the zoom mechanism (been taking pictures on a beach? ;). Dirt gets into the mechanism through the gaps between the zoom barrels and the cam ... Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS5 Digital Camera

Battery drainage I have had my olympus sp-550 uz for approx 18 months, and was getting around 175 shots even when using zoom a lot. I am now getting only 20 - 30 shots using new batteries and also getting total drainage over night at times when my camera is turned off. I have been using the same make and type of batteries since I bought the camera.

20 to 30 shots on "fresh" batteries! Do you use the flash on all shots. That really drains them. I would try to set the camera to "factory default settings" in case you changed something that is causing a drain. I hope you just bought some bad batter ... Olympus SP-550 UZ Digital Camera

Zoom error I turned my F470 camera on and received a "zoom error" bar across the screen. I was shooting pictures with my camera at a concert. I used the zoom feture to zoom in, and it caused a zoom error in the camera. I turned the camera off to reboot it, but the lens stayed out. When I tried to turn the camera back on, the camera came on, but the screen went black. I tried taking the battery out, and put it back in some time later (maybe 30 min.-1 hr.). This did not fix the problem, and I don't know what else to do. How do I fix this?

Lens Error I purchased a Nikon P90 a month ago; and it was working just fine. A couple of days ago during a photo shoot (after taking 190+ photos without any trouble), the camera went crazy.. The lens starts to zoom out & in for a couple of times; then this error message comes up and just hangs. Tried removing the card, battery and even tried re-charging the cell.
