Hi,
\015\012 I've seen quite a few problems regarding memory cards recently.
\015\012
\015\012Most of the time it is the card at fault as it just does not store data anymore. I haven't yet determined if it's time/ use/ temperature or handling which is causing the faults.
\015\012
\015\012Can you describe what happened prior to the card not working as it may help solve future problems?
\015\012
\015\012Some older cameras cannot use the newer - larger cards (even though they fit), and some cards won't record panoramic data.
\015\012
\015\012Try resetting the camera first. - Remove batteries and card for 10 minutes, then reload them.
\015\012If you normally use a PC to download the pictures, see if you can access the pictures from there.
\015\012
\015\012If half have gone, or are corrupted, it's time for a new memory card. Films were 1 shot, now cards only last a few years, but still saves you £ / $ in the long term.
\015\012
\015\012If the new card doesn't work either, you will need to re-install the camera software (or Driver). This should be on a CD or you can go to their website to download it free.
\015\012
\015\012Thanks for using Fixya! If this solves the problem, please rate as such. Thanks.
I have this problem with my minolta Z3. When I use a Scandisk +-258MB, he's doing fine, when I use a newer card (other than scandisk) from 2 or 4GB, I get the message.
\015\012
\015\012A friend told me older pieces have difficulties using bigger cards, she can max use 512MB on here older piece... ?

I have a Nikon E5400, ver 1.3. I bought a 4GB Kingston CF card; the package said "formatted and ready to use". On inserting into camera, the message flashed that the card is not formatted. So I proceeded to format. The next message that flashes is "Out of Memory". Questions: 1) is the CF card defective? 2) is E5400 incapable of reading a 4GB CF card, should we use only CF cards <1GB? 3) Will a firmware version upgrade to v1.4 help? 4) Any other reason why this could happen?
