Having problems with your Nikon Coolpix 4500 Digital Camera ?

Colors off Something has changed.  In the beginning (years ago) my 4500 got great interior and exterior pictures.  But now the colors are off.  And fooling around with the image in Photoshop doesn't really fix it.  There is an overall underexposure without a flash (indoors and outdoors).  And a tendency to overexposure with a flash (indoors, especially).  And the colors aren't right either.  Although there are a differences between what happens to each color, the general issue is a lack of satur

I don't think you'd like to write down all your settings. =)

Of course, make sure your Auto is set, this ensures you are allowing the camera to make all choices for you. If the pictures still don't come out correctly, you may need to have the camera serviced.

If pictures can be taken in Auto mode, but not in (P)rogram mode or others, then give it a try to RESET all options and "start over" like "in the beginning".

The possible reasons are Pg. 91 of the manual:
\015\012
    \015\012
  • White balance is not on Auto, or incorrect for the lighting conditions. Pg. 92-94
  • \015\012
  • The wrong metering makes the lighting evaluation go funny. Pg. 95
  • \015\012
  • Bracketing could be set wrong, which makes takes two or three extra pictures with compensation +1 and -1 of your current settings in order to try and capture a better picture at the instant of the original. Pg 116-117 (less likely though)
  • \015\012
  • Exposure compensation is set too incorrectly for the conditions. Pg. 108-109
You can find these steps on page 119 of the manual.

To do this follow these steps:
\015\012
    \015\012
  • Choose a program mode
  • \015\012
  • Press the Menu button
  • \015\012
  • Goto the bottom of the menu list to choose Reset All
  • \015\012
  • Select it and reset all settings
This might have to be done for each program mode.

I bought a used canon xs from craigslist. I think a hard lesson learned already. Anyway the camera appears to be in great condition. The problem is whenever I take a picture it does not come out right. The colors are way off. Some colors look fine, blue will come out beige, gray or green. This is with the flash indoors or outdoors with just normal light and the camera on full auto. I called canon and they said it sounds like the sensor is going bad. My camera (Sony DSC-T100) is about 3 years old. It has worked perfectly in that time but recently, outdoor photos show a lot pink where it does not belong (sky, side walks, etc.). Indoor pictures still look great, with or without flash. Sounded similar to some of the bad CCD discussions I have seen, but my camera seems to have been built after that problem was supposedly fixed by Sony. I tried calling the number (866-703-7669) I have seen in several postings, but it does not seems to work.

I have a Canon Power Shot A720. Outdoor photos are beautiful. Indoor photos are always grainy/blurry...a lot of noise. I have tried the ISP feature but there are only two choices... 1. Auto or 2. No flash and the photo will not allow a picture to even be taken. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello. I have problems taking pictures with my Cobra DCA1030 indoors. The flash either seems to be entirely too bright or if I don't use the flash the picture is too dark. Pictures taken outdoors turn out fine but I wish I could use it indoors as well. I wasn't sure if there were any recommended settings that would make for better indoor pictures? Thank you, Jason S

I have a Canon PowerShot A95 that has provided very good service for four years. But recently, the color and images are very distorted in some photos - faded purple in color with the image blurred or melted, sometimes icicle-like or stalactite-like in appearance. This occurs in both outdoor and indoor shots. These distortions do not occur in every shot, but have increased in frequency. This is the only problem I have ever had with this camera.
