In Auto mode it keeps come automatically when the power is on. .If you select other modes (i.e; P,A,M ) it does not but you need to pop it up manually. it stays as locked unless you do it manually.

Used Vivitar 70-200 zoom on my K200 Pentax. Nothing but aggravation since. Right now the 18-55 lens it came with is on but shutter button is stuck in down position and my flash wont pop up using the manual "up" button. When I look thru lens and push button, flashing "F" is the only thing there. Removed lens and button would move enough to "click" but would not come up. Put lens back on and nothing! Newbie in the extreme and ready to go back to my MX !!

My EOS 400D flash sometimes pops up in bright daylight in full auto mode. I sent it back to Cannon who returned it saying no fault found. I then began to think that the problem was the way I held the camera and that I may be obscuring the (light?) sensor near the grip with my hand. After not using the camera for a while I am now taking shots again and the flash pop up problem has re-appeared. I am now sure I am not blocking the sensor. Any ideas?

In full auto mode, the camera tries to use fill flash, when it detects a backlit scene (e.g. a person in front of a window). So this is not a bug, it's a feature! If you don't want the flash to fire, you can push it down and still take the shot. ... Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens

Dead Nikon D50 in mint condition... Changed lenses with the power off. Powered back on and no LCD, or any actions at all. Flash will not pop up, no shutter noise, no auto focus. No top menu, no back menu. Did the double green button reset and the hard (hole in the bottom of the camera) resets while both on and off, with and without batteries, with and without SD card and every combination. Tried different lenses, also without a lens. Tried with two additional Nikon brand, fully charged batteries

I have a Nikon D80 and the camera locks up and won't take a picture - the F keeps blinking and it won't lock into a f3.5 or whatever so you can take a pciture - why would this happen ? I generally use it in the auto mode - sometimes I try to switch to manual mode - it will allow me to take a pciture then switch back to auto and it seems to work for awhile - but it will just go back into lockdown mode and it is very frustrating -

I have a Vivitar Camera that I bought from a Pawn Shop. The Flash worked fine for the first few months having it. I didn't use it for a while, and once I finally did, I heard 3 pops. After that my flash no longer works. When I switch into Flash mode it blinks and goes back to No Flash mode. Do you think it's the flash tube, the circuit or the battery that charges the flash? I opened the camera and nothing looks blown.

The 8025 is a very cheap camera....I hope you didn't pay more than $15 at the pawn shop. Your camera has a blown flash tube. The camera could have been dropped in water by the previous owner. You could have bought one at Walmart that would have at le ... Vivitar ViviCam 8025 Digital Camera

Mirror locked up at 125th or slower and infill flash does not flash. At faster speed it works fine. The display on top of camera goes virtually blank and battery display flahes a sif it battery was exhausted. If shutter release is pressed again then camera goes back to normal 'ready to sheet' mode.As flash is synced to 125th I suspect that the flash is the problem (or maybe it is just coincidence) I have tried cleaning, used lenses and put in a brand new battery. Any clues?

I have a Nikon D90 with 18-105 mm lens. Lately, the onboard flash has not been firing even when I try to enforce it by having the flash popped up. It will only fire if I do one of the following: 1) unmount the lens from the camera body and then re-mount it back on, which the flash will fire maybe once or twice and that's it!, or 2) switch on a different lens which definitely works with the flash firing every single time. What needs to be done? I purchased this lens last December (2009). Is

Sounds like a dodgy electrical contact, possibly between the lens mount and the camera body. The lens ought to still be in warranty, but that would depend on what warranty the manufacturer or seller offer in your part of the world (in the UK, the sel ... Nikon D90 Digital Camera with 18-105mm lens

Nikon D50, digital SLR, I was using my camera at a wedding and the flash just stopped working. The camera thinks the flash is going off - it pops up and takes them quickly but no light goes off.... do these cameras have traditional 'bulbs' could it be as simple as the bulb has blown and it needs a new one? or am i looking at something bigger than that? I have a Nikon D70 and i am a photographer I shot a customers photos today. I shot the first half of the photos on this compact flash card and downloaded to my computer and then put it back in the camera and formatted the card. When I put the card back in I shot the rest of the photos using the same card. The last 2 photos I shot said that there was no image file and that I needed to change the card. I went to download the files to the computer but its telling me that the card needs to be format

Hi, I had a spare kodak c330 camera which was in perfect working condition. Since I am using a Nikon camera now, i thought of converting the kodak camera to an infra-red camera. so i opened it, and after a few unsuccesful attempts, I was finally able to open the lens assembly and take out the infra-red filter. however, when I was putting everything back in place(assembling), there was a big spark - one like short circuit - probably caused by the huge capacitor that is used for the flash circuit.

The capacitor has shorted the circuits i would not bother with it .....sorry ... Kodak EasyShare C330 Digital Camera

Sorry to tell you that this is a common problem. You may be lucky in that the usual case is that the flash gets stuck in the down position and is unusable. I was using the D80 with an SB-800 Speedlight and at one point the buit in flash popped up. I now cannot get the built in flash to lock in the down position.

I am using a Nikon D200. When using flash I can't raise the shutter speed any higher than 1/250. It seems to be locked there and I don't know how unlock it. Please help.

That's entirely correct. 1/250th is the fastest shutter speed you can use when using flash. Many other cameras can still only use 1/60th or 1/125. It's all to do with the two curtain nature of an SLR shutter: when you release the shutter, one curtain ... Nikon Digital Cameras
