Having problems with your Nikon Coolpix 775 Digital Camera ?

The lens cover does not open all the way. I have to use my fingernail to do it.

Answers :

It is either bent or has grit and dirt in between the slides. Try using canned compressed air, such as you use to clean a computer keyboard with, to blow air between the slides. If that does not work, even though you will have to be very careful, while the lens cover is closed put a single drop of WD40 on the cover and spread it with a Qtip over the entire cover surface. Holding the camera, front facing down, try turning it on and off several times. If that frees the lens cover, turn the camera off and wipe the surface of the closed lens cover with a soft tissue to clean the WD40 from the surface. Make sure then that your lens is clean before using the camera. If the lens cover is bent, then none of this will work.

It acts like it does but when you take a picture it says "write error" When you turn it on again it still says "card not initialized." I've tried formating them with the camera on (lens cover open) and using the menu and with the camera off (lens cover closed powered on using the button on the back) and using the menu from that screen

My camera turns on by itself even with the slide in front in the closed position. The screen then shows the warning that the lens cover is closed. When I open and reclose the lens cover in 10 or so seconds the camera turns itself back on and repeats with the lens cover closed warning. The only way for me to turn the camera off at this point is to remove the battery. Help!

Hi, how is the best way to clean the lens of the Olympus C-740? I have a fingerprint on it. Is it really true that I have to buy lens cleaner or can I just use a microfiber cloth? Will cleaning it ruin any of the 'covering' on the lens, or is the lens glass? Can you let me know if I need to rub, not rub, or rub in circles, etc? There seems to be a lot of conflicting info on the net. Thanks!
