Received a new SD990 IS today. Charged battery, inserted and switched on. Blue Canon screen appears but no request to set date and time, and none of the buttons have any effect. After about 30 seconds it powers down again. Seems to me it must have been damaged in transit. Any advice about things to try would be welcome, but I guess I may just have to send it back. Alistair. KODAK LS753: when the camera is powered up the screen comes on to set date and time. The selector five way switch can move between set and cancel. Every time I switch on my Canon SD 1100 IS is asks me to set date and time. I set date and time and then it lets me take pictures. Next time I switch it on again it asks to set date and time. How could I get rid of this.

The camera's clock battery has worn out. Unfortunately, on most Canon SD series, this battery is not user serviceable. Recommend contacting Canon to see if they'll replace it, hopefully at a reasonable cost. 1-800-OK-CANON ... Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital Camera

Canon A510 Powershot camera will not stay powered on when I turn it on in picture-review mode. It comes on for a second --> Canon screen flashes on -- and then shuts off. In picture-taking mode, it seems to be fine. It stays on. But if I switch to review mode, it turns off. I've changed the batteries. It was fine last time I used it, last week. I left it plugged into the PC for a few days, if that makes any difference.

These cameras have capacitors built into the circuitry. A capacitor holds a higher voltage so the camera will operate when in use. Some modes in these cameras do need a higher voltage to work. The capacitor for the review mode is weak and will need t ... Digital Cameras

Not really sure if this is a problem? I have an Olympus E-500 and E-510. When I changes settings on the E-500 (ISO, White Balance, Auto-Focus Mode etc.) it remembers them when I switch it off. The E-510 doesn't. Is it supposed to work this way or is there an obscure setting I need to change? It remembers the time and date and the quelity settings ok. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

My Nikon Coolpix 4800 is behaving strangely. In all shooting modes (except landscape, where it automatically zooms in completely and will not zoom out), it works properly. But in all menu modes it switches by itself every couple of seconds between the viewfinder and the screen and it cycles rapidly (with occasional brief pauses) through the menu items. By timing the cycling, I was able to reset it to the factory settings, but that didn't solve anything. Is there some way to reinstall or reboo

I can only turn on my Cybershot DSC-N2 while the camera is in playback mode. I can look at the pictures and videos and change settings with no problem.. but when I try to switch to camera or video record mode the camera turns off by itself. Sometimes the lens will come out and then the camera powers down with the lens stuck out. Other times it just shuts off before the lens even has a chance to come out. The camera has never been dropped or damaged.

When I switch the camera on the screen stays blank even though the lens comes out, it eventually goes off (with the lens still out after about 40 seconds). I can get the camera to work if I press the green "view" key and then, after the picture appears, press the red camera icon and it will go into auto shoot mode. Happens every time now. I can't take it in under warranty as it was a present and I don't have the receipt unfortunately.
