Having problems with your Nikon COOLPIX S52 Digital Camera ?

Software/formatting problems. Help!

\015 My camera seems to have developed software problems. It is very slow to turn on - then, when it does, it asks me to format the card. I do this, but is then says that it is out of memory, despite there being no images in the memory. Help!!!!\015

Answers :

If the card is not a new card, it could be the card has gone bad. If you have a card reader on your computer, try formatting the card with the computer (using the FAT file type on the format menu). If the computer has no problems formatting the card, it could then be the contacts in the phone are dirty from repeated use. To clean them, cut a piece of thick paper the width of the memory card and about 3 inches long. Fold the paper and dip the folded edge in alcohol. Now insert the folded paper into the card slot and rub the contacts to clean them. Let dry for a few minutes and then try your card again. To clean the contacts on the card itself, use a pencil erasure to gently rub the contacts and blow away any residue.
