I have a Nikon D40 which is coming upto being two years old. Recently I have noticed that the auto-focus will not work. If I manually focus I can still take photos but when auto is engaged it will not even try to focus and therefore will not allow me to take a photo. I have not made any changes to the settings and therefore I am concerned it is a hardware fault. The lens in question is the standard lens supplied with the camera and is the only lens I have so have been unable to check t

My nikon d40 wont take a photo with the standard lens unless I switch it to manual but when I put the telephoto lens on it works in both auto and manual. How do I get my standard lens to work in auto (the "a" switch on the lens)? It has worked in auto in the past.

It is a mirror lens that i just received in the mail and I attach it to my camera and the camera says lens is not attached. I put it on manual and when i take a picture, it is a black photo. I put a manual flash and it takes 1/4 of a picture

I would think, that the "Contacts" that the camera uses to talk, and identify, with, maybe dirty or bad. This is a communication error between the lens, and camera. Have you tried "Resetting" you camera, with the lens attached? This may help. Are you ... Digital Cameras

Nikon D50 I have been reading through Fixya to try and find a similar problem. I have a Nikon D50 and have been using it with no problems for over a year. However, now when I try to take photos in AF, nothing happens. It locks up. So, I have to try to take photos in manual. Some come out OK and others not. Very frustrating as I missed lots of xmas pics. When I hit the AF-L button, it seems to work in AF mode. Any suggestions?? [email protected]

Black photos When I turn on my camera (Nikon Coolpix S5, I believe), I can access old photos and see the symbols that are usually on the screen when it used to take photos. However, if I take a photo with it, it is just black. The camera flashes and acts like it has taken a photo. There is no lens cap, so that is not the problem. Is the camera simply broken?

This is unfortunately one ccd fault...you must change the ccd of the camera. it s possible to find the entire lens block in international seller for many types of camera...search if you can find your lens to a good price and prove to change it alone ... Digital Cameras

Lens Error I purchased a Nikon P90 a month ago; and it was working just fine. A couple of days ago during a photo shoot (after taking 190+ photos without any trouble), the camera went crazy.. It shows a lens error when turned on; asks to 'remove the lens cap' even if it is already removed. The lens starts to zoom out & in for a couple of times; then this error message comes up and just hangs. Tried removing the card, battery and even tried re-charging the cell. I purchased it from UK, and I'm n

My Nikon d40x is roughly three years old and the lens has had to have been repaired twice due to it being dropped. Lens is working fine though now. Yesterday i was getting out my car and the camera fell out my bag, the lens still works fine but now the camera is refusing to take more than 1 photo and saying "card is full". Tried my brothers memory card in it and its doing the same although his memory card works fine with his camera (nikon d60). Someone help!

Someone asked me to take photos with my Nikon D90. I have the 18-105mm lens that I got with it. Is this able to take 'wide angle' photos?? I know there are special lenses made specifically for wide angle photos, but is this one capable of doing so?? Thanks for your answer...sorry if I seem so ignorant....I'm new at this. Thanks again!

The 18-105mm lens at the 18mm end of the zoom range is a pretty fair wide-angle lens. Look through the viewfinder and turn the zoom ring (the big wide ring at the front of the lens) one way and then the other. The 105mm end is the view that looks lik ... Nikon D90 Digital Camera with 18-105mm lens

White screen Hello, I have a Fuji S5000 Digital Camera that has never caused me any problems. I was using both the movie and photo functions this afternoon when, all of a sudden, the EVF/LCD screen turned white. I have removed the batteries, turned the camera on and off and have reviewed the troubleshooting information in my manual. At this point, when the camera is turned on, all I see is a white screen. If I try to take a photo, the camera will take a picure, but when I go into playback
