Hi, I've just recieved my nikon d90 back from a repair and service, and although everything appears to be working fine, whenever I want to change shooting modes,( auto, P, M, flash off etc), they only work once I have selected them, and then turned the camera off and back on. In other words I cannot be shooting in the Auto mode and then switch to "flash off auto"....all that happens is that the auto focus works but the shutter will not operate. If I switch the camera off and on however, I can t

It seems to me that Nikon Point & Shoot cameras, or at least the last 2 that I have bought, have a usable life span of approx 4 or so years before the LCD's decide not to work in turn, makes the camera non usable. I have a 5700, 3.5 years old before it stopped working & a S4, which the LCD also quit working and it is 4 years old, I think my next point & shoot will be a Canon to go along with it's big brother that I bought this year, 50D Does anyone have a solution to this Nikon problem? Nikon COOLPIX S710 stops working after battery and/or memory card are removed. I have reformed the memory card (no change). Purchased 2X new batteries (no change). One of the original batteries will allow the camera to work, directly after a fresh charge, but not after it is removed, unless directly after insertion from being freshly charged. Have checked all 4 different batteries and voltages all appear at of above specified 3.7 VDC. Still only one of the 4 will ever allow the camera to functio
A voltage test alone cannot determine if the battery is good unless you can have the current rating of the battery tested. So if the camera comes on after a charge it seems that the battery is not retaining current for the camera to boot on.\01 ... Nikon COOLPIX S710 Digital Camera

Nikon D100 Hi. Out of the clear blue my af lens doesn't work. No motor sound. Can use manually. Is there a motor in the lens that needs replacing? I think its only 4 years old (inhered camera). Nikon AF 70-300mm. I don't really have the money to go to camera store without indications of what I need. How costly is the motor? Also there is no light on the internal view box. Can you help? Thanks, Mary Louisville, KY
If the lens is AF (not AF-S) there is no motor in the lens. A motor in the camera turns a screw in the lens mount to focus it. If it is easy to turn it manually, my first recommendation would be to check that you didn't accidentally bump the focus ... Nikon D100 Digital Camera

Recently I tried switching it on and I found (i) the camera comes to life but the lens cover does not slide in (ii) many of the buttons are not working.(iii) the charging LED does not glow when I put the camera to charge. I checked the battery and it appeared alright to the naked eyes. Please help. Bidyut Roy

When I switch the camera on the screen stays blank even though the lens comes out, it eventually goes off (with the lens still out after about 40 seconds). I can get the camera to work if I press the green "view" key and then, after the picture appears, press the red camera icon and it will go into auto shoot mode. Happens every time now. I have a Nikon d100. I have a 2GB Sandisk Extreme III that was full. I transferred the photos to my computer. Trashed the files on my computer so the card was empty. We have Nikon Cool Pix 8800 - we have struggled with the camera from day 1 having a long delay between pushing shutter buttom and photo being taken. It seems recently that the problem has gotten so bad that anything other than a still picture is a frustrating moment. We believe we are shooting on automatic. If there isn't a setting that is wrong we are clearly on our way to selling the camera but we don't even feel good about that the way it currently works. Thanks Lynn
