Will Nikon D300 focus with the 11 point AF11 setting?

\015 I am about to go nuts. I am shooting people, focusing in the eye with a Nikon D300 (24-70 mm 2.8f fixed lens); the settings are as follows:I am using the spot focusing (the "most bottom" selection of the three options (this dial is located just above the media card "ejector")What I do==>1) I focus on the person's right eye in Single focus mode (versus continuous focus mode)2) Settings were (in one test)ISO 4001/1250f2.8Even if I do==>1) Focusing on the person's right eye in Continuous mode (so as to alleviate any movement issues) it is still not in focus. It seems like I can only get 20 out of 300 images perfectly sharp shooting at f2.8 (yes, that's what this is generally about => shooting with a wide aperture, trying to get the person's eye sharp and throwing the rest out of focus)I have been having this problem ever since I bought the camera about 6 months ago, and I even use another lens and still the same problem (Nikkor 50 mm lens). How do I know it's not focuses?Well, I am using Photoshop CS4 and I am enlarging the image to 100% - that is, I am enlarging the eye 100%. I DO KNOW what a sharp eye looks like, but it's not happening, and getting only 20 out of 300 images right is a huge failure rate, and it is only through luck, somehow, that I am getting these 20 images, and I don't think that I am doing something wrong. If it's a setting issue, I just did the following:1) I changed the Nikon setting, as follows:a8 AF point selection, from AF52 (52 points) ==================> to AF11 (11 points)However, I have NOT TRIED this out yet, BUT, I do not think that this has anything to do with my problem. Or could it be that when I am trying to focus on the person's eye, somehow, the camera is "reading" too large of an area (this with the "52 points") and that the camera therefore gets confused and reads, instead, somehow, the area OUTSIDE of the eye (center) where the camera is only supposed to read the very eye (center). In other words, is the camera (with the 52 point setting) reading, for example, the eye brows which are--from a perspective of plane--located IN FRONT of the eye (center) when it is supposed to read and focus on the very center of the eye since the (red) focusing square in the camera is right over that eye. Please help\015

You may want to consider fine tuning the lenses. I understand that you want the shallow depth of field, but the lens is sharpest at the middle f stops. What is the comparison between a stationary object like an apple or grape (something with a circular shape). I understand you have a higher shutter speed, but the small movements of a person could cause variances in a single focus mode. Are you using the half-shutter press for focus or the AF-E button? Tripod? Remote shutter release?
\015\012I asked about the distance relative to the lens length because the DOF can really change based on this. I have found this recently with my macro work so I wanted to find out if you have experimented with this or fired a bunch of shots at a single setup.

Nikon D300 - Auto focus point won't move. Autofocus doesn't work.

Back focus My D300 looked like it was focusing behind the subject. I set up 8 objects on the lawn, each one 3 feet behind the other. I mounted my camera on a tripod, selected a shallow depth of field, and shot each object. I found that at close range, my camera focused fine. The farther away the object, the more the camera focused behind the object. I returned the camera to Nikon for repair under warrantee. They made some adjustments. The focus has definitely improved, but I don't think it is qu

Focus Problem I recently bought Olympus C-750. The real problem i have with it so far is that when I point the camera towrds the subject, its focus is adjusted automatically and the subject looks very focused and clear, but when i press the shutter button, the camera re-focuses and makes the subject blurr and in the end pictures come out very blurry. Kindly help me out with that, i.e: do i need to do some setting to avoid that??? and plus i cannot find the manuual focus option in the camera.
