Having problems with your Nikon D40 Digital Camera with G-II 18-55mm Lens ?

How do you remove the white areas of a shot from flashing black when you look at the image?

Answers :

What you're seeing is blown-out highlights. These are areas of your picture where the bright stuff (highlights) have been so overexposed (blown-out) that all detail has been lost. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but usually is. The proper fix is to reduce exposure slightly. Lost details in the dark areas are usually considered more acceptable than lost details in the bright areas.

If you simply don't want to see the blinking black/white parts of your picture, simply press up/down on the multiselector to select a different view of your picture.

The image that shows up on the camera when I review them, has black flashing areas. For example if the area I photographed had a lot of white - it shows up as a flashing black section. What is this? I have a Sony Cyber-shot 5.0 which is about 6 years old. It was working fine on Thanksgiving. I tried to use it yesterday and get no image just vertical lines, pink and white if that makes a difference. The message in the camera says "Rec. folder is 101MSDCF." I have looked through the owner's manual but do not find anything to match that message. I removed the battery and put in a new memory stick to no avail. Help!

When I turn my 550 PowerShot on, I get a blank screen (black for the most part with white camera symbology around the screen, such as the flash symbol, etc). The screen works, as I can click a picture and see the photo momentarily. I can also view my saved pics. When I select the film mode, the screen looks normal.......meaning it displays a color image of what is in the lens. Have I inadvertently selected a mode which is causing this phenomenon?

White balance I have an ongoing problem with all my images having a stronge red / yellow color cast to them. It does not matter if I'm in the daylight or shooting under flouresent lights. When I use my flash the area directly in front of the flash is usually ok, but where the flash falls off, the immediate area has that color cast to it.
