Having problems with your Nikon D40 Digital Camera with G-II 18-55mm Lens ?

My Nikon D40 shutter won't depress when pressed. Flash pops up but nothing will focus and shutter won't depress. When changing to another AF-S lens...everything works fine.

Answers :

I had the same problem and all I had to do was turn the lens filter pretty hard until it clicked and problem solved! Hope this helps.
Try cleaning the contacts on the back of the lens in question.

Since another lens works fine, we can probably assume that the camera's working fine and that it's the lens at fault. If you can, try the lens on a different body. If it fails there as well, that would be pretty conclusive. If you can't, then you may have to take the lens in to a certified Nikon technician for servicing.

Hi, I've just recieved my nikon d90 back from a repair and service, and although everything appears to be working fine, whenever I want to change shooting modes,( auto, P, M, flash off etc), they only work once I have selected them, and then turned the camera off and back on. In other words I cannot be shooting in the Auto mode and then switch to "flash off auto"....all that happens is that the auto focus works but the shutter will not operate. If I switch the camera off and on however, I can t

Nikon 18-200mm VR lens doesn't seem to want to AF focus at full focal length 200mm distance. I bought this lens second hand on ebay and am not certain if there is a problem with this lens. If I try to shoot a picture at full focal length indoors it seem to be fine or relatively close shots but out side, full distance shots it wont work. The focal ring is at full focus and just turns with no change in the view finder but it needs more. To adjust the focus on the camera you are suppose to press the shutter button halfway down and it will lock your focus in and then press the shutter button again and take the picture. It was working fine and the next time I turned my camera on this option would not work. I try the press the shutter button down halfway the it does nothing. All I can do now it press it all the way to take the picture. I have an Olympus E-420 digital SLR camera.

Similar to another post, I dropped my Canon Rebel XS (strap caught a chair) and it landed on my tile floor. Everything seems to work fine except the auto focus. Because I thought it landed lens first I bought another 18-55mm lens. However when I put the new lens on the auto focus on does not work on this one either. Any ideas whats on what is going on?

My cannon A570 was working fine. Then all of a sudden it would turn on and turn off right away so I changed the batteries. This did not help. The lens was opening very slowly. Then it wouldn't open again. I received a change battery message which was odd but changed the batteries again. (they were pretty hot) Once I changed them it worked again for a second but now it wont turn on. Any suggestions?

Hi. I am on vacation in the Indian Ocean islands at this moment with a brand new Nikon D90 + 18-105 lens. Was taking photos this morning. Also, the Lv button no longer works. When I press it, the camera is unable to switch from viewfinder to LCD l

D60: I just got back from Certified Repair group where they said the camera is "okay". The Problem: It's like the ISO has shifted, and the readings on P, S, A, even M all result in a long exposure/wide open aperture reading. Frequently the reading is such that the shutter will not release, due to no focus or wrong light amount. Frequently the focus "peep" does not go off, and so the shutter will not release. Two weeks ago it was fine, don't think I changed anything, but it's like a setting is

My Canon eos 1 n shows a bc error when I fire the shutter, it will AF, and meter the scene fine but then bc appears. I have been told by a tech that the shutter is fine, and that the board is fried. Won't Focus I have had my Canon Powershot SD1000 for about 9 months now. I have had problems with the lens error and it getting stuck but have always been able to get it to work eventually. I had another bout with the lens getting stuck, was able to get it unstuck but now it won't focus at all. Normally I press the shutter down half way to get it to focus on my subject, but now it simply won't focus. I'm wondering if maybe my settings are off, or if it's an internal problem.
