Having problems with your Nikon D40 Digital Camera with G-II 18-55mm Lens ?

My flash is too bright...

\015 I've had my Nikon D40 for less than a year and I just started usuing it really frequently. I just moved so I have no clue where my manual is right now, and I have a problem. I was using my camera the other day and it was working beautifully and then all of a sudden my pictures were coming out almost compltely white. The flash is almost blinding and I can tell something isn't right, but like I said I've been using my camera for a short while and am still learning all the controlls. I tried playing with the exposure compensation, but maybe I'm not doing it right because it doesn't seem to be working. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)\015

Flash also has several modes you can toggle through by pressing and holding the button that pops up the flash while using the command dial to change modes... rear curtain, slow sync, red eye reduction, etc. These show up on the top LCD under the lightning bolt icon.

The flash is either far too bright or not bright enough even when using the auto setting. The flash either doesn't flash at all on "soft flash" and then blinds people when the flash is turned on so it produces very dark faces or bright white images. I've tried using different scene modes but this does not seem to work.

Flash When I take pictures, all of the faces are completely whited out. It's like the flash is too bright but when I adjust the flash, then it's too dark. I'm sort of confused as to what to do. I would love to be able to use the flash without whiting out all the faces and bleaching out the background. I've tried adjusting the brightness and the flash but that doesn't work. Is there anything else I'm doing wrong?

I have even tried to turn the flash all the way down on the manual setting. This is the third Sony Cybershot camera that I have owned and have never needed to change any o

Nikon CoolPix S500 shows colored lines on lcd and in photos where the lights are bright. I have restored settings tried using it with no flash, soft flash, and auto flash and the problem continues. Camera flash i generally use my camera on auto mode so i don't have to play around with buttons! however after loaning my camera to my sister for a week my flash is no longer as great as it was!! I used to take pics and the flash would light 2-3 times giving a great, bright picture. It now flashes once before the pic is snapped giving a dark picture. If i push the flash button on the left side of the scrolling circle it goes from red eye flash (which flashes once) to no flash! I'm almost certain

I have a Canon EOS 40D camera. We are having problems with using an external flash. The pictures always come out extremely dark with the external flash. The flash seems to work fine, it flashes brightly. The pictures look fine using the built in flash. The flash is a Promaster but we tried a Canon flash and it did the same thing. Evil flash there is either something wrong with my flash or the light meter, but 99% of the time when i go to take a picture, the flash goes off. hood up or down, it doesn't matter. it seems that the only time the flash doesn't go off is in extremely bright light, i called customer support and was basically told to send it away for a million years to have it repaired, but is there possibly a more simple solution?

It appears that there is something wrong with the sensor that senses when the pop-up flash is up or down. Try cleaning the whole area with compressed air, especially the little gaps in the mechanism. The part that is defective costs next to nothing, ... Fuji FinePix S9000 Zoom Digital Camera

Brightness I recently bought the Olympus Stylus 700 and took it on a vacation with me and it worked fine, but shortly after returning, the camera began to take extremely bright pictures, in fact if there is any natural light (not produced by the flash), there is nothing but the vague outlines of some objects. I adjusted the shutter speed to little avail and even thought formatting the memory card would help. Now I have no idea what else to do, aside from taking it back for its warranty.
