My nikon d40 wont take a photo with the standard lens unless I switch it to manual but when I put the telephoto lens on it works in both auto and manual. How do I get my standard lens to work in auto (the "a" switch on the lens)? It has worked in auto in the past.

Hi,\012\012Sorry to hear about your lens. If you are able to take pictures with a telephoto and any other AF-S lens, then it means that your problem lies with the standard lens. With standard, I assume you mean the kit lens. If you can take pi ... Nikon D40x Digital Camera

Hello, I recently bought a Tamron 28-300mm Model 185D lens for my Nikon D40. I can't get the Auto Zoom to work. I was wondering what I am doing wrong. is ther any setting I have to put my camera in? Anything I have to do on the lens it self? Help!!! Thank you Higor

Wont AF on a D40 as the D40 uses "in lens" focus motors. The 185D is a camera body AF drive lens. You need a DX type lens that has an AF motor in the lens for a entry level D40. Sorry. ... Digital Cameras

I just received my Nikon D3100 in the mail today, and I was so excited. When I opened the lens cap on the camera body to put the lens on a small, clear-ish rectangle fell out. It was surrounded by a thin cooper colored frame that is easily removable. It looked like a little magnifying glass so I am kind of nervous. It seems to shoot pictures fine, but some times it tells me the shot is to dark even though I am in full light. It also took black pictures the first few times and if I point it di

The viewfinder of my Nikon D80 is grayish and blurry when it's off. I cant see a thing when I tried to use my 18-135 mm lens. I don't have a battery to reset it to its factory default settings. Do you think there's something wrong with the camera or the viewfinder is always blurry and grayish when it's off. I have owned D40 earlier and I could play around with the viewfinder even when the camera was off.

My Nikon D-40x has an auto focus that won't auto focus. Becasue it won't focus, it won't take a picture with the lens set to that mode. One day the camera worked fine. I put it up in the closet for about 5 months while working odd hours. Took it down removed it from the case, charged the battery and it just won't work. It died all on it's own....Replaced the battery, same result.

I Cant remove a battery from a Nikon D40. It comes out about 1/4 and stops as though there is some kind of release switch i'm missing. Can you help?

The battery has a little groove with a "ramp" in it to keep the battery from falling out when you open the door. It should come all the way out if you grab the 1/4 that is sticking out and pull/wiggle it a bit. I'm doing it as I type. There is a defi ... Nikon Digital Cameras

Lens Error I purchased a Nikon P90 a month ago; and it was working just fine. A couple of days ago during a photo shoot (after taking 190+ photos without any trouble), the camera went crazy.. It shows a lens error when turned on; asks to 'remove the lens cap' even if it is already removed. The lens starts to zoom out & in for a couple of times; then this error message comes up and just hangs. Tried removing the card, battery and even tried re-charging the cell. I purchased it from UK, and I'm n

You've likely jammed the zoom motor in the lens. You're correct in thinking that the camera can't work without the lens out. With it being physical damage repairs wouldn't be covered under warranty so you either need to pay to have it repaired (if th ... Digital Cameras

Hi Guys, I am hoping that someone can offer some explaination for the following. I bought a Nikon D7000 in November and it has suddenly started displaying 3 small doughnut shaped marks on my images. I have not removed my Nikon 16-85 lens from the body so I would not have thought that sensor dust was the problem. To eliminate that the problem is on the lens I have now swapped the lens with my telephoto and the problem is still there! I have just sent an email to the company that I purchased from

I'm a new user of the D90 (and digital in general), and on my first major trip with it I had problem with the shutter not working. I would take some images, put the camera down without turning it off and move on to the next spot. At the second stop the camera would not work. I'd turn it off, remove the battery, run the lens in and out and eventually it would work again. The message I got was F--, which said that the lens was not installed properly. However the lens was never removed. What's
