I have tried removing battery\015\012and resetting but problem still there. Do you know of any fix for this\015\012of is this a repair job?\015\012\015\012Thanks\015

I assume this is no longer under warranty.
This more likely to be a case of not pointing the camera correctly when pressing the release if for example you press the release firmly and dip the camera down in so doing it will register a shadow the camera moves up on exposure and you get a burned image.
Try various experiments in the mode see what happens.
As regards a repair it is likely the cost would be as much as or more then a new replacement

Incorrect metering I have a Nikon D40x. About every 100 or so frames that i take, there is a problem with the Nikon Metering system. It incorrectly chooses the Aperture and Shutter Speed. Outdoors, it sometimes overexposes pictures. Indoors, it makes them very dark or black. Should i take this in to get it fixed? I have extended warranty...Alas, this is an intermittent problem. This is a mind bender, While doing a shoot using monolights connected to a Nikon D1x I encountered exposure problems. After the lights were metered for the best exposure, I started shooting. The first ten or so shots were fine, and all of a sudden the next ten shots looked like they were 8 stops over, and then it went to looking ok. The first thing I did was switch monolights thinking there was a problem with the flash, this did not resolve the issue. Next I switched camera bodies, still the int

Uneven flash Hi, my Nikon d40x has a problem with its flash when I rotate it, for example, to take a picture of someone standing. Only the left side of the frame illuminates, and the right side of the picture is dark. However, when I use the camera horizontally, the flash works fine and illuminates evenly.
