D40 Autofocus problem

\015 We have a 35-55mm lens, and a DX zoom lens (55mm-200mm) for our D40 camera that I got for my wife last Christmas. Everything was working fine until just a few weeks ago. The zoom lens' autofocus quit working. It works just fine if we put it in the MF mode, but in the AF mode it just jitters...zooms in and out and never locks on the subject....and this is in bright light outside focusing on non-moving objects! We've tried Reseting the lens, and that doesn't help. From what I've read, it sounds like there might be something wrong with the lens, and we might need to send it into a Nikon dealer. Any help would be appreciated!!\015

I was using my Nikon D40 at son's baseball game with the 55-200 mm lens & was too close to the fence when zooming since it tapped the fence. Now it makes a squeaky noise when trying to auto focus. Focus malfunction I have been shooting with my D70 for a little over a year now with absolutely no problems. I shot with it last weekend with no problems. However, yesterady when I took my camera out to use it I realized that my autofocus single area option won't let me change from one focus area point to another. It is stuck on the center focus area. Even stranger when I tested the autofocus on the closest subject mode it is capable of locking on each of the five focus points. Does anybody know

I have a Canon EOS 1000D, and I've had it for almost 4 years. Recently i started having problems with both my lenses. My Canon digital rebel will not autofocus correctly. My camera has 7 points autofocus, but it will only autofocus on the far right point. All other points are not used. I have had the camera for 14 months and the problem just began. If I want to focus on anything in the left to center of the field of vision, I cannot do it. However, the lens focuses manually very well. Why won't my camera focus on other points than the far right one?

Every once in awhile, our D90 hangs up and won't autofocus and take pictures. An error message is displayed but can be rectified by removing and putting back in the battery. The battery display usually says it's O.K (at least half full). Is this a battery problem or battery connection problem?
