D40 does not shoot on auto mode

\015 My nikon d40 suddenly does not shoot on auto mode inside a room with low light. My room is lit by a flourescent lamp that gives enough light. But recently, when i put my camera on auto settings, it would not shoot. I no longer hear a whirring sound from the lens, meaning it does not want to focus. When i remove the flash, it shoots just fine. Is there something wrong with my camera? I didnt change any manual settings since I last used it. Thanks for the help!\015

Hi, I've just recieved my nikon d90 back from a repair and service, and although everything appears to be working fine, whenever I want to change shooting modes,( auto, P, M, flash off etc), they only work once I have selected them, and then turned the camera off and back on. In other words I cannot be shooting in the Auto mode and then switch to "flash off auto"....all that happens is that the auto focus works but the shutter will not operate. If I switch the camera off and on however, I can t

The flash no longer works. In "auto" and in either the "auto flash" mode or "forced flash" mode no flash occurs. It is not in "suppressed flash" in the "portrait" screen position mode. The batteries are good. The shutter button is pressed after the charging is completed. The camera is not in "continuous shooting."

Lately my E520 camera is only working on "auto" mode. When I switch the camera to any other mode the shutter button does not release. As a result I am only able to shoot in auto mode. Please advise.

I make photos of my oil paintings - placing the painting on the floor and shooting down. The "auto focus" will not focus on some paintings and the photos are blurry. I have tried all settings tn "Manual" mode plus using the other shooting mode. Some paintings just will not be in focus! Any help will be most gratefully appreciated. Ken B.

I don't know how close you need to be to the paintings, but if it's close enough to need the "macro"setting, then you need to activate it for close focussing. ... Fuji FinePix J10 Digital Camera

Nikon D40 pictures taken but too dark even in AUTO mode with flash on a bright day. also, some days ago I had the Shutter release error message while taking some photos. After that, the camera is acting weird, pictures sometimes are taken but the picture is always dark, although flash is used and AUTO mode selected. I do not see the error message anymore, but the camera simply do not take pictures properly. I tried formatting, etc with no result.

My Fuji s2000 always shoots picture that are blured. I have tried many settings and different exposures however I keep getting the same result. What can I do ? The worst mode on this camera is the auto mode, I can never get a clear indoor picture. This camera takes beautiful pictures of flowers/nature and all outdoor photo's turn out beautiful it is the indoor photo's I have even tried the sports mode for when people move but I still get a very blured image

Found the same thing and I think the answer is the opposite of previous suggestions. The s2000 is truly awful at anything above about 400ASA The degree of pixel binning it uses just makes the pictures look terrible. Force the camera to use 400 or s ... Fuji FinePix S2000hd Digital Camera

Canon 20D When ever I shoot in manual mode my counter does'nt subtract count correctly, if at all. If I start off with 999 shots and take 20 pics, it will still say 999. Powershot s410 My s410 is "old" :( but I love it and has been working amazingly over 10,000 photos in the 4 years I've had it. All of a sudden this week-end when I am in auto or manual mode the screen is black - I can't see what I am shooting. What is odd is that if I am in the panoramic mode or video mode the screen works. Even odder is that if I actually take a picture blindly (since the screen is black) it shows up on the display! Help... :) Thanks
