Having problems with your Nikon D40x Digital Camera ?

Nikon D40 (very dark photographs)

\015 We recently had a problem with our D40 where the lens was damaged and broke away from the camera. It broke some of the contacts on the lens.\015\012The camera we were assured is fine - however, even with the newly repaired lens the images are still very dark. We took it to a photo shop who said it may be the contacts still or maybe an issue with the camera and we'd need to send it back to the manufacturer. Anyone got any bright ideas as to what could be wrong?\015

Answers :

If lens has aperture ring make sure its set to highest aperture (f22 etc). With nikon CPU lenses, all exposure metering is done inside lens, sounds like lens still has problems. Try another lens to test camera body, camera shop should be willing to help with this.

I have a Nikon D40. I wish my photographs to be numbered consecutively, 0 to whatever the numbering system goes up to (9999?), even when using a new card, without going into different files or whatever. I named a file "Card 1". The photographs come out labelled "100Card1 DSC 0001" etc. Yestreday, for no apparent reason, having reached "DSC 1021", it then started back at zero and was labelled "101Card1 DSC0001". When I go into the Folders menu there is no mention of "100" or "101", just "card

You need to set "file number sequence" to "on" in the setup menu.\015\012However to get to this menu item you need to ensure that "CSM/setup menu" is set to "full", also in the setup menu.\015\012\015\012\015\012\015\012The setup menu is the on ... Nikon Digital Cameras

Lets get you going on this camera. For the lens thing, the 18-55 Nikon lens is a good one. I'm going to\015\012 assume the lens was loaded while the camera was turned on (not a good \015\012idea). What I'm going to suggest is that you make sure the b ... Nikon D3000 Digital Camera
