Having problems with your Nikon D40x Digital Camera ?

I have a NIkon D40 and I've been using a 28-200mm D SAshperical IF lens. is this a good match?

Answers :

You have to decide that. It's a good match if it works for you.
There's nothing wrong with the match. The only downside I could think of is that you don't need a full-frame lens with the D40, and there are smaller and lighter DX lenses available.

The D40 is a low end camera, but before you discard it, I would contact the closest Nikon repair depot (see the Nikon website for the location) and ask them for a repair estimate. Poor focus I am using the Nikon d80 with a Sigma 24-70 mm lens. I am not satisfied with the crispness of the photos. I have tried shutter speeds of 1/500 and higher, using a tripod, and using shutter delay to get better clarity and sharp focus, but none has worked. The quality is not as good as my 2 meg Sony! Is this to be expected from the 10 meg cameras? thanks! [email protected]

Are you using a DX lens. Do you know if you have the camera's auto focus set to AF (auto focus) or M (manual)? There are many things that effect the focus and as an added note, any shots over 1/60 shutter speed in normal light should be in focus wi ... Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens

Whenever I try to take a picture using "auto focus" option with my Nikon D40, (using the standard lens that came w/the camera), it makes a clicking sound and will not auto focus. But if I use it in manual mode it does not click. What could be the problem?

This camera focuses the lens by sending an electronic signal to it. If you hear a clicking sound, the lens is receiving the signal, but not responding. I suggest you take the camera & lens to a local photo store & ask if they could let you mount anot ... Nikon D40x Digital Camera

I have a Nikon D-80 with 18-135 kit lens. after 2 years 5 months (and thus out of warranty) very careful use, it displayed ERR and froze. No change of lens, reset etc. made any difference. The place where I bought it said it had to go to Nikon UK for repair (carriage charge GBP20). Estimate for repair is GBP150. Is there a problem with this camera/lens combination that would make it of unsatisfactory quality under the UK Sale of goods act 1979? Thanks in advance

Use LCD instead of view finder in Nikon D40

Can't be done. Digital SLR cameras only view through the eyepiece, unless they have a "live view" function, which the D40 does not. The LCD is therefore for viewing an image after it is shot, and setting your menu options. ... Nikon D40 Digital Camera with G-II 18-55mm Lens

Hello jenmardi,First, the fstop and shutter speed question ... For a lens of 70 mm I would use the manual with shutter speed at least 1/250 or 1/500, then the fstop I would set at 2.8 or just under this, no more than 4. You need as much l ... Nikon D200 Digital Camera with 18-200mm Lens
