Can't get the monitor to work while composing shots
\015 My monitor works fine both in playback mode and displaying immediately after taking shots but it doesn't come on prior to shooting - not when I turn the camera on and not when I depress the shutter button half way. When I turn the camera on the information screen comes on but when this shuts off automatically the monitor shuts off.\015\012\015\012I've rest the camera back to factory settings but it's still not working.\015\012\015\012Any advice?\015
Poolseman is correct that most DSLR cameras do not feature a 'live view' on the lcd. Light does not hit the sensor until you release the shutter and take an exposure. When you remove the lens you will see a mirror which relects light up through the pentaprism (an interesting piece of glass that flips and reverses the image and sends it out through the viewfinder for you to see). Most of the sound you hear when shooting is that mirror snapping up and out of the way to reveal light to the sensor (CCD in your case). If you took a long exposure like 10seconds, you cannont see through the viewfinder because the mirror is not reflecting. All SLRs work this way. However, a few of the latest Canon SLRs from this year DO support a live view of whats in front of the lens. I'm not aware of any other bodies available that can do this, but if Canon is doing it, its possible, and probably will turn up in other brands later this year or next year.\015\012\015\012If you're trying to take a shot above your head etc and cannot see what you are doing, I submit that practice will tell you how much area the lens is getting and what angle to estimate. In a case like this the lcd might not help much anyway since they do not view well at extreme angles. \015\012\015\012Hope this helps...
Because your camera is a digital SLR you cannot ( physically impossible ) preview 'live' images prior to the shutter being released . The reason is that the device generating the image viz. CCD sensor is behind a CLOSED shutter so it 'sees ' nothing and hence thre is no picture available to be displayed on the monitor.\015\012It is only when you activate the shutter that the CCD sensor can come on line and capture/generate an image which is available always only after you shoot.

I have a Canon EOS 50D Digital Camera and use 3 different Canon Lenses. I am getting "Error 30". I have taken the internal battery out and re-installed the firmware. At times I can shoot quite a number of shots before getting the error. But, once I start getting the error, it comes about every 4 or 5 shots. I believe this is very similar to the "Error 99" in the Canon 30D, which I also have. The 30D has been sent to Canon for repair and worked for a while and now it gets the Error 99 every coupl

Canon models oddly do not support images on the LCD in every picture mode. Since the LCD works for settings, my guess is its in the wrong mode for the live view and its is not an issue with the camera's LCD.\015\012\015\012Here is a link to the ... Canon EOS 500D / Digital Rebel T1i Digital Camera

Olympus D-435 Our camera has been working fine until last week when we started getting this error message - memory full on a blue screen when we had taken only one photo (and deleted all previous photos). Thinking there was a problem with the memory card, we removed it and used only the camera's internal memory which worked for a short while - allowing us to take 12 shots - but now it will only let us take 1 shot before giving us the error message. Is there anything I can do? Many thanks
You can try updating the firmware of the camera since this is not a problem with the memory card its with the camera itself you can check Olympus web site for software update on this.Hope that helps....... ... Digital Cameras

Flash Error Hi there, bought this camera about 6 months ago. I'm intermittently getting a problem with the pop-up flash. It pops up fine, but the screen gives me an error telling me it hasn't and won't take any shots. Have to keep switching it off and on and hoping it will work again. Sometimes it's a couple of days before it works again. It will take shots when I switch the camera to the 'no flash' setting, so it does seem to be just the flash. The error says that the flash release is jamming,

This happens with brand new batteries and with rechargeable batteries that have been fully charged. Any assistance would be appreciated. Doug Clark
