All white pic is shown on LCD when used in Manual Mode with delayed shutter timer

\015 Hi, my camera has been working great for over a year. Today while trying to get some storm pictures I set the shutter delay time and took a picture in Manual Mode (M) the pic was all white. All of the other modes on the camera work perfectly fine. I'm guessing I screwed some setting up.\015\012\015\012Any advice would be great!! Thanks,...\015

Dave e mtb is right to tell you're overexposing the shot, the Nikon D40x and most Nikon SLR's have a WhiteBalance feature which lets you increase or decrease the exposure w/o modifying the shutter or aperture.
Look for a push button labeled "WB" on the back or elsewhere and depress it to read the indicator, when it is "0.0" there is no compensating effects, when it is 0.1 - 5.0 you are adding light and when -0.1 - -5.0 then you are darkening the exposure.
If the WB feature is causing your issue then it is likely reading +2.0 or higher
You are massively overexposing the picture. Manual mode means you have to set the exposure manually. You need to adjust the settings so that the light meter reads somewhere around the zero mark.
\015\012
\015\012M mode is most useful for flash photography where you want a certain level of ambient illumination in the picture as well.
\015\012
\015\012If you want some control over the camera but don't want to worry about exposure too much, use A and S modes. The manual will explain all of these modes.

Shutter speed I have had my camera for 6 months. Today I used it for soccer pics and put it on sport mode and every pic I took is blurry. We looked on the information of the pics and the shutter speed is really low. My husband started to look and try to manually adjust some things and the speed will not change. States LOW. I also looked at the soccer portraits I took right before the action shots same day...and some of those are a little blurry as well. What could be wrong? Please help!

Canon Powershot A70: LCD screen went blank - I can still access all menu functions (timer, resolution etc), but the screen is completely black otherwise. If i take a picture using the manual view finder, all i get is a completely black photograph. I have a nikon d200. The last time I used it (only a few days ago) it was fine, everything normal. Then yesterday I pull out out of the case and everything seems to be going wrong. It is metering INSANELY low, like a shutter speed of 100 in full daylight produces a REALLY dark image. It won't auto focus at all, and i am unable to change the fstop in manual or aperture priority modes. I tried to restore it to factory settings and the lcd screen flashed to indicate it had been restored but no luck

Just purchased a canon A590. on page 84 of user guide, continuous shooting is described. I'm somewhat familiar with SD cards, but Canon implies that I have to use their MSH type SD card to use the continuous shooting feature. When I look at the drive modes in my camera, I only see 4 possible modes....single pic, 10 sec delay, 2 second delay, and delay continuous. There is an icon for continuous shooting in the book, but it does not appear on my camera. Why?

I don't own an A590 but I've been handling cameras since the Kodak Instamatic days, so I'll try to help you. I checked out the Canon website for the A590. and they don't specifically state the MSH type SD card. The camera can do 1.4 fps or frames p ... Canon Digital Cameras

I have a Canon Digital EOS Rebel XT and the built-in flash no longer pops up when needed. This started happening after using a Canon speedlite, but then removing it. I've tried resetting everything, and tried all modes expecting that the ones listed in the manual as using a flash would work, but they dont, it never pops up. I lifted up the flash with my fingernail manually, and then tried taking a picture where a flash was most definitely needed, but it still had a long delay, no flash, and

Nikon D80 with a Sigma Lens (80 to 200 I think). In manual mode, often shutter won't release - this was a close up of a hummingbird with a fast shutter speed. Internal light meter showed underexposed, but the background was dark green. Initially, the shutter released, but later would not operate either with a remote, or by manually depressed the shutter release button. Lcd/viewfinder THe LCD screen looks as if there is a shutter, for lack of a better description, nearly closed. Only a sliver of view is available. It appears that way with both the picture taking and playback mode. The eyepiece looks different than normal, but at least can be used. Photos come out just fine. The same thing happened last week, and then all of a sudden it was OK. Did I mistakenly change a setting? Any suggestions? Thank you!
