Shutter Speed too slow on indoor sports for Nikon D60

\015 When I set the camera on "sports" and use it outdoors for baseball or football, the shots are great even when the person is moving quickly. But when I use the camera indoors with the same setting for volleyball or basketball all of the action shots are blurred. The shutter speeds show to be much slower indoors than out. I am sure that is because of the amount of light indoors. My question is "Can I take action shots indoors?"\015

Answers :

Maybe. Assuming you can't add more light, you can either increase the ISO and/or open up the aperture. Try going to A (Aperture) mode and opening up the lens all the way. This will give you the fastest shutter speed possible under the conditions. That may or may not be fast enough.

Incorrect metering I have a Nikon D40x. About every 100 or so frames that i take, there is a problem with the Nikon Metering system. It incorrectly chooses the Aperture and Shutter Speed. Outdoors, it sometimes overexposes pictures. Indoors, it makes them very dark or black. Should i take this in to get it fixed? I have extended warranty...Alas, this is an intermittent problem. Thoughts?

The shutter speed seems very slow. It's almost impossible to take simultaneous shots as you would perhaps for shooting sport or something similar. What can I do to improve it?

Focus problems I have 2 digital cameras already so I know to hold the button down 1/2 way for focusing. The Nikon is new. I HATE manuals. I am having trouble focusing on close up shots. They are either real blurry or slightly out of focus. It seems the shutter speed is so slow that any movement of my hand ruins the shot. I can take a shot of something, a plant for instance, pulled in fairly close. One shot may be ok and the next one is blurry

There are two likely reasons for the blurry pictures. One possibility is, as you surmised, a slow shutter speed. Try mounting the camera on a tripod or other stable support. You might also try turning on the flash. The other reason is focu ... Digital Cameras

Hi i am using a Nikon N75 to take pictures for my photo class, and the instructor wants us to take low light indoor phtotos at a shutter speed of 1/30 at f2.2. However, when i go to set these settings in manual mode the camera will not let me set my aperture to 2.2 it usually stops at 4 and there is no way i can make it 2.2. i didn't know if there is a limitation on the camera but it seems like i should be able to select what i want.

It's probably a limitation of your lens. You didn't say what lens you're using, but one of the common kit lenses sold with the N75 only goes to f/3.3 at best. If you had a lens that opens up more, the camera will let you use it.The differ ... Nikon Digital Cameras

Continuous shooting I'm new to this so bare with me. I just got my Nikon D60 and I want to shoot pictures in continuous mode. I set it on manual, go into the menu and change it to continuous. I rotate the dial so it changes the shutter speed but when I take pictures it's just a black screen. As a matter of fact any time I try to take a picture in M it's just black. I'm hoping that there is just a setting I need to change and there's not something wrong with my camera. Thanks.

Hey man. Im not sure how new you are but basically i think your problem is you need to decrease the shutter speed to around 1/200-1/250 of a second and increase the apeture to around f10/12 and see if that works. If your operating at a high shutter s ... Nikon D60 Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens
