Having problems with your Nikon D40X Digital SLR Camera Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens ?

Uneven flash Hi, my Nikon d40x has a problem with its flash when I rotate it, for example, to take a picture of someone standing. Only the left side of the frame illuminates, and the right side of the picture is dark. However, when I use the camera horizontally, the flash works fine and illuminates evenly. What am I doing wrong?

Answers :

Look carefully at your images taken with flash... on the horizontal image is the lower part of the image slighty darker and have a rounded fall off at the edges? Is the vertical image dark side a straight hard line or is there a rounding to the top and bottom?

\015\012What we are looking at is if you have a very wide angle lens with the lens shade attached to the lens, then the built-in flash catches part of the lens shade and make a shadow on your subject... take the lens shade off and try the same shot and see if that makes a difference...

Camera flash i generally use my camera on auto mode so i don't have to play around with buttons! however after loaning my camera to my sister for a week my flash is no longer as great as it was!! I used to take pics and the flash would light 2-3 times giving a great, bright picture. It now flashes once before the pic is snapped giving a dark picture. If i push the flash button on the left side of the scrolling circle it goes from red eye flash (which flashes once) to no flash! I'm almost certain

It seems that the right side of the control dial (where the flash icon is) doesn't allow me to change the flash type as it used too. nothing happens, can't choose red-eye reduction or anything. Any ideas? Has anyone had this problem before? Camera is only a year old so hope it's not broke! thanks for the help.

Hi. I have had a Samsung S1050 camera for just under 3 years, and have had satisfaction in using the camera and with the picture quality for most of that time, however just within the last few weeks, the quality of photographs taken has gone rapidly downhill, with white-out when using the flash and poor light levels, and when zooming in on any picture that has recently been taken, there are noticeable horizontal lines across it through the entire photo, much like an old 70's tv. I have a Canon EOS 40D camera. We are having problems with using an external flash. The pictures always come out extremely dark with the external flash. Dark pictures I have a Canon EOS REbel T2 with the standard 28-90 lens. It had been working fine, but now my pictures are (almost all) coming out very dark and grainy. Further, I note that if I turn the camera 90 degrees to that a "portrait" picture -- 6" tall and 4" wide, I see a dark rectangle in the picture in the bottom right quadrant. I always set the camera to full program (the green rectangle). I have been using Fuji 400 speed file of late. Do you have any idea what I"m doing wrong?
