D50 aperture control assemly
\015 Where can one buy parts to repair a D50, I inserted my lens wrong and broke the aperture control. Is this something I can repair?\015\012\015\012Mike\015
Unlikely - these are high-precision parts - even disassembled and repaired by Nikon, the lens is never the same. The 18-55mm lens that came with the outfit goes for under $200. Depending what other glass you own, - and if you can afford it - go for the 18-200 VR and consider it a blessing in disguise. This lens is amazing in quality and universal usability.

Suddenly I can't control the aperture with the sub command dial in the manual mode. I have tried a "hard reset" and the two button reset to factory defaults. In M,A and S modes the shutter and aperture values will disappear and only return after a two button reset.I can adjust the aperture in A mode with the command dial. The shutter speed is adjustable in M mode with the command dial.
In Manual mode only the front dial can be used to set the aperture. That is probably In Aperture mode you can only choose the the Aperture. Shutter speed is automatically chosen. That is why the shutter speed value will disappear. In Shutt ... Nikon D80 Body Only Digital Camera
I have a d80 and I have two problems: 1) I can't get the monitor to work while I am taking the picture, I can only review it. 2)Whenever I take the aperture out of the locked position of 22, the aperture reading on the control panel blinks: F EE, and the remaining exposures reading changes from exposures remaining to: r11. Please help.
1) The D80 does not have a Live View capability, you must use the viewfinder. The display is for menus and reviews.2) Leave the lens locked at the smallest aperture (highest number). Change the aperture using the command wheels. ... Nikon Digital Cameras

Command dial on a friend's Fuji Finepix S9000 is NOT functioning. Can't control aperture, shutter speed, flash settings, etc. Can it be opened and fixed (he has no warranty, thus no problem with opening it). Is there a special setting or way of turning or pressing buttons that he is doing wrong? It says to press (and hold?) a button then twist the dial, but no change is made as far as I can see. I have tried enless things and have much experience (though I'd be a fool not to ask others). A

Flashing "f--" I recently took my d50 up a mountain hike and at the top I took a landscape shot that showed up on the viewer as just a full white/blank picture, and now I can't take any more pictures or focus or anything. I just get a flashing "f--" in the aperture space. Did I break something? How do I fix it? Thanks

The part that controls the aperture is stuck. Basically, when I look in the lens, the black part is still closed, and at first it stayed open too long. Now it is just stuck closed. I'm now in the UK, and it of course broke 1 day after the warranty ran out, so it's a no go to get fixed under warranty apparently. Now, I took it into a repair shop, and they said they see this happen a lot with digital cameras, and the more pictures you take the quicker the part will wear out. They're going to give

Why won't my aperture go lower than 5.6?
You do have total control, within the constraints of the hardware. The 18-55mm lens has a maximum aperture range of f/3.5 to f/5.6. This means that at 55mm the maximum aperture is f/5.6. You can go the other way, all the way to f/38. At shorter focal ... Nikon D3000 Digital Camera

On my d90, under M (manual mode or aperture priority), the aperture on the readout goes beyond the actual aperture range; i.e. f3.5 - 5.6; readings will show aperture range of 5 - 29 when I scroll with the sub command dial; sometimes when i remove the battery it returns to normal; how can i fix this problem permanently?
There is NOT a problem. The f3.5-5.6 indicates the maximum aperture in the zoom range. At 18mm the maximum aperture is f3.5, at 105mm it's f5.6. The minimum aperture ranges from f22 to f38.\012\012\012So, at 18mm, the aperture can range f ... Nikon D90 Digital Camera with 18-105mm lens
