Nikon D60 newbie : colour distortion / large smudge in photos

\015 I have had this camera for 2 weeks and was taking perfect pics in Auto mode. No settings have been changed from factory default except for date and time. I am new to SLRs and waiting for a book about this camera to come from Amazon so I can learn how to use it properly, the manual is no help.\015\012\015\012From one day to the next a "blob" started appearing in all my pictures on the top right corner. This looks like posterisation and I first thought maybe caused by a finger print but all lenses are clean front and rear. I tried a different lense same thing, changed the memory card too just in case, no difference. I have no idea what it is and how it got there. I am extremely careful when removing lenses and at no time did I touch the interior mirrors or glass. I had a quick look and see nothing. I wish I could upload a picture for you to see!\015\012\015\012Many thanks for any responses to my dilema. I am stuck in Rwanda until August!\015

D-SLR cameras are designed to be used with interchangeable lenses\015\012and foreign matter may enter the camera when lenses are changed. Once\015\012inside the camera, this foreign matter may adhere to the sensor, where\015\012it may appear in photographs taken under certain conditions. To prevent foreign matter from entering the camera\015\012
  • \015\012do not change lenses in dusty environments\015\012
  • \015\012
  • \015\012point the camera down when changing lenses.

\015\012To protect the camera when no lens is in place be sure to thread on\015\012the body cap provided with the camera, being careful to first remove\015\012all dust and other foreign matter that may be adhering to the body cap.
\015\012Remove foreign matter from low-pass filter
  1. Clean the low-pass filter covering the sensor as instructed in the camera manual or continue reading below.
  2. \015\012
  3. Have the low-pass filter cleaned by authorized Nikon Authorized Service Center
  4. \015\012
  5. The Nikon D300 and D60 has the ability to clean the sensor* using\015\012the "Clean Image Sensor" feature. Please see page 371 in your D300\015\012User's Manual, and page160 in your D60 User's Manual for more\015\012information. *Clean Image Sensor may not remove all sensor\015\012contamination and additional manual cleaning may be necessary. See page\015\012374 in the D300 manual, and page 162 in the D60 manual for more\015\012information.
  6. \015\012
  7. Fix images with black spots\015\012
Photographs with dust or foreign matter on the low-pass\015\012filter can be retouched using the 'Image Dust Off' function available\015\012in Nikon Capture 4 or later (available separately) if the image was\015\012taken in the NEF format, for more information visit the article on 'How does Image Dust off' work.

I have bought a Nikon coopix S600 and recently I have taken a considerable amount of pictures while on holiday. This is the first time that I happened to develop most of them for my album. On computer the colour of the photos was excellent. However I was very disappointed with the picture colours. The colour came out very strong which I did not like. Is there some feature on the camera I am missing out for the printing of these photos?

You said that the pictures on your computer looks perfect. It just that when you print them out, the color came too strong. Well i think it is with the printer and its color separation that has the problem and not the camera. When you see those pi ... Nikon Coolpix S600 Digital Camera

I have had a nikon D60 for the last 3 years.I normally use the auto setting and for the first 2 years it took beautiful photos almost every time. in the last year or so when i try to take a photo it often displays iso auto r 09 in the bottom right hand corner and won't take the photo and this doesn't appear to depend on lighting. My Nikon d40x is roughly three years old and the lens has had to have been repaired twice due to it being dropped. Lens is working fine though now. Yesterday i was getting out my car and the camera fell out my bag, the lens still works fine but now the camera is refusing to take more than 1 photo and saying "card is full". Tried my brothers memory card in it and its doing the same although his memory card works fine with his camera (nikon d60). Someone help!

My photos now seem to have a lot of vertical lines when downloaded. It's like peaks for each strength of colour distorting the picture.

My Nikon D60 freezes or more accurately 'thinks - as the yellow light lights up' for more than 3 seconds after a photo is taken. I was just wondering is this anything to do with my shutter? and are there any possible solutions to it? Thanks :)

I have a Nikon S200 digital camera. I took some pictures last night, using the flash. When I flicked back through them, I found a problem. I would look at a picture as it was focusing, and after a few seconds when it was focused, it would distort in all different colors. Also, when I try to import those photos into iPhoto on my Macbook Pro, it says that the files are unrecognizable.

I have seen this problem on a few cameras, not limited exclusively to Nikon. Try replacing the memory card with another one, and make sure the camera is set to use the memory card vs. internal memory. It sounds as if the memory card is ... Digital Cameras

Viewfinder I just got my *ist DS Monday, and this is my first DSLR. I have a general question, which I hope you guys can help me with. The image framing from the viewfinder is significantly different from the finished photo. The finished product always has a wider angle of view from what I am seeing while framing the shot. At the widest setting, there isn't much difference. At full zoom with an attached Nikon 6t, the object I am shooting is large in the view finder, but it appears half sized

Viewfinder magnification has nothing to do with this. \015\012It's a framing accuracy, viewfinder coverage issue. \015\012\015\012\015\012Viewfinder magnification has to do with how large the focusing/framing field appears, optically, to your eye. Pe ... Pentax *ist DS Digital Camera
