Having problems with your Nikon D70s Digital Camera ?
My nikon 70-200 stops focusing
\015 I have a nikon D70s and a Nikon 70-200mm lens. It has worked fine -- and suddenly the autofocus stopped working. I have the Lens settings on M/A, Full, VR on and Normal. The camera is set to AF on the external switch. Other lenses don't seem to have a problem.\015\012\015\012Any ideas of what could be happening or of others experiencing this? This lens is relatively new to me -- so i am hoping it is user error or user ignorance.\015
Nice lens too... I would take a good look at the electrical contacts on that lens. If OTHER lenses are truly working correctly, you have eliminated the camera as the cause and need to look at that specific lens. The first thing that I would try is taking a pencil eraser and rubbing all of the contacts with it. This will often clean the contacts of dirt and grime and clear off any "coating" that may have accumulated over the metal portion of the contacts. Barring this, I would send the lens to Nikon for servicing. It is a high percision device and taking it apart yourself is NOT recommended.

Hi. I am on vacation in the Indian Ocean islands at this moment with a brand new Nikon D90 + 18-105 lens. Was taking photos this morning. From one shot to another, the camera suddenly stopped working. When I press the shutter button, it still focuses and when I click through, I can hear the shutter clicking (tried this with different shutter speeds). However, no photo is captured/stored. Also, the Lv button no longer works. When I press it, the camera is unable to switch from viewfinder to LCD l

Hi. I use my Nikon D2x and 80-200 f2.8 zoom extensively, generally with a Hama cable release. Recently, the set-up stopped working. The camera focuses, but the release will not trip the shutter. The only clue (with a freshly formatted 16Gb CF card in use) is r17 in the viewfinder, although the manual fails to mention what this means. The cable release works perfectly on my D700 with the same lens. Anyone any ideas? Paul Perton Cape Town

I have a Nikon D60 and my autofocus has stopped working. It is not because of the lense because i have tried other lenses and the auto focus won't work with them either so it must be an issue with the body.
You should check custom menu setting 2, and make sure it's set to one of the auto modes. Make sure the lenses you are using are AF-S and not regular AF lenses. The D60 has no autofocus motor, so autofocus only works with AF-S lenses. \015\012 ... Nikon D60 Digital Camera

My Nikon D40x won't auto-focus. When I press down the shutter button, it won't do anything at all. If I switch to manual and back to auto, it works for 2-3 shots, and stops working again. If change shooting modes from single to timer and back, it might work for a couple shots. I have not been able to find any other solutions. Any suggestions?

Crash I greatly enjoyed the D70 until it suddenly stopped taking pictures. I got the dreaded ERR message. WE tried different batteries, lenses, cards, etc., but to no avail. This is a real bummer. I have used Nikons for 30 years. Currently, my F100 is also at Nikon. The back latch catches simply cracked and fell off! Back focus My D300 looked like it was focusing behind the subject. I set up 8 objects on the lawn, each one 3 feet behind the other. I mounted my camera on a tripod, selected a shallow depth of field, and shot each object. I found that at close range, my camera focused fine. The farther away the object, the more the camera focused behind the object. I returned the camera to Nikon for repair under warrantee. They made some adjustments. The focus has definitely improved, but I don't think it is qu

Nikon Coolpix S50 has screwey autofocus when I shoot close-up. I select my subject, center it within my frame, depress the shapsot button half-way in order to initiate the autofocus function... The camera then begins to slide between out-of-focus, to in-focus, then keeps on going to out of focus again, and then slides "back" to an out of focus position! I understand that it is "looking" for the sharpest image as it does this--- but what it consistently selects is NOT the sharpest image! Ide

Focus problems I have 2 digital cameras already so I know to hold the button down 1/2 way for focusing. The Nikon is new. I HATE manuals. I am having trouble focusing on close up shots. They are either real blurry or slightly out of focus. It seems the shutter speed is so slow that any movement of my hand ruins the shot. I can take a shot of something, a plant for instance, pulled in fairly close. One shot may be ok and the next one is blurry
There are two likely reasons for the blurry pictures. One possibility is, as you surmised, a slow shutter speed. Try mounting the camera on a tripod or other stable support. You might also try turning on the flash. The other reason is focu ... Digital Cameras
