Having problems with your Nikon D70s Digital Camera ?

My NIKON D70 has trouble with flash cards larger than 2 G.

Answers :

IBM Microdrive 4GB will work, but D70 doesn't like any CF Cards over 2GB, - especially the thin ones.
In theory the D70 should be OK with cards more than 2GB, so it's possible the card has been pre-formatted in FAT16 mode which limits the usable memory to 2GB. You should try formatting it through the camera (as opposed to a computer) which will format it in FAT32 mode that theoretically allows up to 32GB.

\015\012If it still gives problems then could be a compatability issue especially if you are using a third party card not approved by them.

Do the Nikon D100 and the D70 share the same in camera Compact Flash unit - not cards - but the hardware to accept and read the CF card? I have a bent pin in the D70 and want to know if I can change out the hardware with a Nikon D100 unit.

My Nikon D70 DSLR was fine when last used but after around three weeks when brought out to use again, the LED which signifies writing to the card is flashing - whether the power is on or off. Removing the CF card and reinserting it makes no difference. While this light is flashing the camera will not switch on or show any information in the LCD. It is about three years old and has been faultless until now. Any suggestions?

I have a Nikon D70 and i am a photographer I shot a customers photos today. I shot the first half of the photos on this compact flash card and downloaded to my computer and then put it back in the camera and formatted the card. When I put the card back in I shot the rest of the photos using the same card. The last 2 photos I shot said that there was no image file and that I needed to change the card. I went to download the files to the computer but its telling me that the card needs to be format

NIKON D70 I have a Nikon D70 Whilst taking a series of photographs I get through to about 40 images then the camera stops shooting and the format card display comes up on the display. If the CF card is removed the images taken are ok and can be down loaded. If the card is then replaced without deleating the images then further images can be taken until the problem re-ocurs. I have tested the camera by taking a full card of images all at once and there is no problem. The issue seems to ocur if th

Hello, my Nikon D-90 is stuck with the r-33 error message with the f-stop flashing. This happened after I emptied the memory card onto my laptop from a card reader. When I reinserted it the camera froze. I tried a friend's card ( he has a Nikon too ) and his card didn't work on my camera either so that eliminates the card I think. Any ideas? I have a Nikon E5400, ver 1.3. I bought a 4GB Kingston CF card; the package said "formatted and ready to use". On inserting into camera, the message flashed that the card is not formatted. So I proceeded to format. The next message that flashes is "Out of Memory". Questions: 1) is the CF card defective? 2) is E5400 incapable of reading a 4GB CF card, should we use only CF cards <1GB? 3) Will a firmware version upgrade to v1.4 help? 4) Any other reason why this could happen?

I have a Nikon D70 camera. I'm using a Lexar 2GB card inside. Problem focuses on the card. Previous to this moment, card has worked fine. Today, shot photos and when I hooked up the camera to download the pics, got an error in the viewfinder (CHR). Looked at the manual, and it said problem was with the card. I removed the card, and placed it in a card reader. It worked fine and I was able to transfer the photos. Replaced the card, and still get the same error. I've already re-formatted the card,

First, memory cards don't last forever, so it may be time for a new card. Make sure you check the pins in your camera and the contacts in your card for dust/dirt. I'd guess you already looked at this, though. \015\012\015\012I've had s ... Nikon D70 Body Only Digital Camera

Green light on camera back to the right of the 'delete' button continually flashes on-off about 1 second intervals as soon as battery is inserted as long as CF card is in place. Switching camera ON produces no visible operational indicators. Depressing "Menu" button flashes: hour glass; menu display; blank screen. Holding button down just cycles as above. Swapped lens, data card, battery, connected EH-5 power source; nothing makes any difference. Checked same lens in another D70 camera; it's OK.
